VERY Personal Question -ladies
Hi,
I have a personal question and it's probably stupid but I really need to know. If I am on my period when the surgery is scheduled will they still do the surgery?
I have been spotting for about a month...with light bleeding on some days. I've done this before. Monday I'm going to see a new GYN. And Tuesday I see Dr. Hruska for the second time.
When I talked to her the first time she said this second time would be like a pre-op visit right before surgery. Then Friday when I called her office they said something about I might be having surgery about 2 weeks from Tuesday. They will check with Dr. Hruska when I come in to make sure and then they will schedule me for sometime to have surgery.
I just don't want this whole period thing to screw things up.
Julie
Hi Eva,
Yes Dr. Hruska did ask me to try to lose at least 10 pounds. She said it would make surgery easier because it would help make your liver less fatty. And she has to move your liver when you have the Open RNY.
She is really great and answered all my questions. Hope everything works out well for you.

Hi Julie,
This isn't a silly question hon! But to answer it.... Don't worry about it!
I actually had my period a week in half before surgery.... Then after taking all the meds we take to clean our our systems - I ended up waking up the morning of surgery, with yet another period. I was SO worried, they were gonna find out and cancel my surgery but... Turns out it's pretty normal! (Thank gooodness!)
It is pretty hmm GROSS because they put that cathern? (sp?) in you during surgery and it stays in you for like a day or so - Depending on when the doctor says to take it out!
So other then that - I wouldn't worry about it!
Keep us updated....

Hey there, Julie! The only stupid question is the one we dont ask! Having your period will not interfere with surgery. I had mine about 2 wks before surgery, and as luck would have it, started again the day after surgery. So take your feminine hygiene products with you lol. I learned the hard way they only have pads at the hospital. I haven't used a pad since my very first period at age 12. I'm too old for diapers. Best of luck to you on getting that date. Two weeks would be so great. I'll keep you in my prayers! God bless!
