Dr. Alston - Memphis ??

Has anyone had surgery from Dr. Alston lately? Dr. Alston did my surgery a year ago and even though I thought I had done all my research I found out I wasn't transected in the procedure he uses. I did fine for the first 6 months but I have a staple line disruption and it's like I never had the surgery. He's on vacation so I thought I'd ask around and see if anyone knows if he does do the RNY with a transection now? I'm reading more and more that without the transection there is a much greater percentage of staple line disruptions. I'm hoping he can fix this ... I just don't want to have it happen again so I'd like to have it transected while I'm getting fixed (assuming it can be fixed). Thanks folks! DeeDee

Hi DeeDee sorry to hear this, I knew the Dr.'s name sounded familar. Check out what Joe has to say about this Dr. posted on 7/15. The Dr. alston will no longer be able to do surgery. Best of luck, but do read what Joe has to say. Apparently the Dr. is sick. Kathy

DeeDee, We heard that Dr. Alston is out with medical problems and won't be doing surgery any longer. Several of his patients have posted on here looking for a new surgeon. You should check into this. Anne
