Hernias...

I was wondering if anyones ever had to deal with a hernia? If so can you tell me the symptoms, please?! I think, I may have one - I noticed this balloon shape thingy poping out of my stomach on Sunday. It's awful but yet it doesn't hurt... When I lean back, it sorta just pops out of my stomach even worse and my stomach just sort of hangs from it. But see I got sick on Sunday - I ended up throwing up spit & chicken for over 6 hours (sorry for the details!) After all that, I finally made it to sleep, when I woke up Monday morning - I still didn't feel great but tried to eat some yogurt and it came back up, then I tried some peanut butter 2 hours later, it came back up... So... I'm wondering if this thing in my stomach as anything to do with that! Ugh. However, I did a online search on hernias and found out - you can get them from a fast pace weight loss, which I've just gone through.... Any feed back on this? I don't go to the doctors until the 13th - I'd call for an earlier appointment but figured I could wait till the 13th, my mom agreed too. Oh by the way, I can eat now and its staying down! Thank goodness! -Katie

Hey Bernice! Did your hernia hurt? How did they know it was time to take care of it? I'm so worried I'll end up having to go through another surgery - this close to my WLS. Ugh... Anyways, hope you hear from interview SOON! The waiting sucks.... My 4th was good - I stayed home and was chasing cows because they got out from the gated area... FUN FUN FUN! UGHHH! Hope you had a good one! -Katie

Hay there Katie, It was an incisional hernia. I also lifted a 250 Lb. man at work. Ouch!! And yes it hurt.. Sorry I didn't write back yesterday. I took out my daughter and her friend. My daughter had her 9th birthday today and her friend is having heart surgery on Monday. (she's only 9)..Please say a prayer for her. Things don't look very promising for her... I've got to get going. Don't be chasing any more cow's. And I'll let you know if we hear anything about the interview... Good luck at the Dr.s . Let me know what happens... Bernice

Hello there....Your Neighbor again......Sounds like a hernia to me.Was your surg open? If so,is the spot close to the incision? It could be a Incision Hernia, but I'm only a Nurse, not a Dr.I would be sure to mention it next time you see your Dr. April

April... It's on the left side of my incision - It's about the size of a grapefruit! And Yes, my surgery was Open RYN! I'm going to the doctors on the 13th for my checkup - I'm gonna have her look at it! Hopefully this doesn't mean more surgery right now... Ugh! -Katie

Katie, I have to agree with the troops, it sounds like a hernia. They don't always hurt. But as the saying goes, I'm just a nurse, make sure you tell the doctor when you go for your appointment. Anne
