You are so sweet Laura and I'm sure if I hadn't quite so, shall we say, under the influence of a foreign substance, we would have had a better visit. Thanks again for the gift. Love ya Anne

Hey, Anne So glad you are home and on the mend. Will you be at aftercare this week? It will be my first one. Mr. McG-W wanted me to go the day after surgery, but I was not going to go down in my icky gown . She started me on pureed right away, too, which I was glad about. Sorry you had such a rough time on the Morphine - I had a pump once and knew that I just can't tolerate it. One day you will laugh about your husband and friend hitting the button so many times! Welcome to the losing side! Victoria in Memphis

Anne, Welcome back. Yes, recovery can be tough (different for everyone). I worry that people may get the wrong idea of the ease of this surgery from some posts and I try to emphasize that everyone reacts differently. For instance, they pulled me off the PCA on day 2 as I was not using it. I didn;t use any pain medication while in the hospital and none afterward. I was gery fortunate. I really did not think that surgery would take as much out of me as it did. Even though my recovery was pretty uneventful, it was still a slow process. The first couple of days I could not even walk more than 10 feet without having to return to the room and get back on oxygen. It will get better and that's when it really gets tough as you'll feel better and have to be careful not to let the "creepy crawly bad patterns" try and creep in. I struggle with that now. I feel much better but I am somewhere in the middle. I feel good physically but it takes a while (or a family) to install that external motivation. Hang in there, you'll do fine; just take it slow and follow the guidelines of your doctor and nutritionist ...
