Need Local docs who do Psych evals???

Hello, it has been a while since I have posted on the board due to all the junk happening in our lives lately but for now things seem to have slowed down some and I am trying to finish up the list of required testing before second consult with Dr Hodges.. the major thing yet to be done is the psych evaluation.. since Dr hodges only listed 2 , and neither one will work for me for different reasons, I was wondering if ya'll call tell me of any docs you know in the local area or close anyways who would hopefully be on my insurance list??? I would GREATLY appreciate any help you can offer here.. I am getting so close now and want to get things finished!!! Thank You and God Bless You ALL! Dawn KNOXVILLE

Ha Dawn, well from what i know the ins.companys do not cover the psych eval at least my does not.most have to pay out of pocket and the only 2 that my pcp referred me to are out on vacation or sick and out of office for a few weeks and they are close to me.so i had to use the one that DR HRUSKA office referred me to and it is in Clarksville and i live in Franklin.hopes this helps some. Donna It would be great if you could use the dr david canter that hodge and watson list. I used canter about 3 weeks ago. He charged 100.00 (very reasonable) and the visit lasted only30 minutes. I see dr watson and am waiting on insurance... Maybe i will see you there Michelle

Good Morning Michelle, When you were trying to reach Dr. Canter to schedule an appt did you have trouble reaching him? I keep getting voice mail.. I have left messages since friday and still no response.. I just tried again and same thing. Dawn

Dawn it was a answering machine and i left a message and he called back.. Sice this was a hoilday weekend that might be why. He may be on vac i dunno. Did you tell him waht you needed? He called me back several times Michelle

Hi Dawn, do the company you work for have EAP? If so they will have a list of Dr's that you can possibly can see at no charge.

Hi Dawn, I'm not sure which insurnace you have but I suggest calling the 1-800 on the back of your insurnace card.... They'll be able to tell you were you can and some where locally for you too! Thank You to ALL of you who were kind enough to respond to my post! My insurance is through my husband's job..it is a labor union's insurance called Tennessee laboror's health and welfare fund. So far noone seems to know too much about this insurance or what they will or will not cover. Even the doctors themselves.. it is frustrating a bit sometimes not knowing what will happen but I am leaving it in God's hands and hope to be approved when the time comes! As far as Dr Cantor, he is not on the list of my network docs but if he only charges $100, that isnt too bad and I will certainly check into it now..thank you for telling me.. I never would have called him if you hadn't responded since I was hoping it would be covered by insurance. But,on the other hand, I sincerely pray I am not spending all of this money out of my pocket for these tests if I get denied for surgery! However will keep pressing forward and pray for the best anyways .. Thank You All again! God Bless!! Dawn knoxville

Dawn, I'm gonna pass along some advice I got from a fellow "roomie" here on the OH website...(Thanks again Anne)...Do you have an EAP (employee assistance program) where you work? (or where your spouse works, if so, you can use it) If so, call them and tell them what you are wanting, and maybe they can help you as mine did. Not only did they set me up with a great shrink that does the eval, but it's only going to cost me 5 bucks! Hope this helps, and good luck, Hugs, Carol

Carol, At the risk of looking realllly ignorant here, How do I find out about EAP? I have never heard of any such thing and I know my husband would not have a clue either. Where do we go to find out? Thank You! Dawn
