insurance question

Ok, all of you on TennCare and have had or close to having the surgery, this post is for you. I am about to start my journey into getting all the tests (psych eval, sleep study, nutrition, etc.). Does TennCare cover all of these steps or do I have to pay out of pocket for some things such as the nutrition consult. Any information will be helpful. Susan {!}

Susan I have Tncare/Medicare. RNY @ Vanderbilt 7/28/04 the only outof pocket I've had is $250.00 per nutrition visit x 2. Do you have any co pay with your TNcare? I know everything will work out for your journey, just be patient. I know it is NOT EASY. Good Luck Barb

Susan, I have TnCare Select! I have had 2 sleep studies,nutrition class, and phcys.eval. My Tncare paid for all except the phcys. Call Tncare and get a case manger she will help you threw it all! By the way when we were in Clarksville last week I call you on your cell phone and left a message but never heard from you! Maybe next time! Good Luck! Cherry

Susan I have TennCare -Blue Care and they paid for all the evals and test that I had to have done. I am also a patient of dr Hruska and surgery date is July 23.It only took my insurance to approve it. I hope this will help you some. Melissa

I also have TennCare Select. I am seeing Dr. Hruska. TennCare paid for the psych eval, 2 sleep studies and the nutrition study. I have not had to pay anything out of pocket. I had my regular doctor set up my appointments with people they knew would take the insurance. Good luck to you. Julie

Hi Susan, well susan i am just starting all of my appts. to and so far i have not had to pay for any thing and i have tenncare select but from what i was told from my case manager i may have to pay out of pocket for the psych eval and the others tenncare will pay.i guess i will find out soon.i had my first ss last night and i have to go back on the 21 of july.i hope this helps you.take care ttus Eva

Good Morning Susan! I had my surgery on March 24, 2004 - I have TennCare Select. They paid for my surgery, my room, sleep study, and shrink. However, I had to pay for my nutrition class but honestly I think they sent me to the wrong place. I was going to the weight loss nutrition class @ the Wellness Center here in Crossville and honestly, I could of taught it better then the lady! I guess all that time at Weigh****chers paid off! I wish you the best of luck with your journy of WLS! By the way, if you have to co-pay for your TennCare - Then you'll have some sort of % to pay but it all depends on your plan. -Katie
