Ok. I am new to the whole process and need all the information I can get. I have seen in the posts people talking about seminars. What exactly are these and how do you find out where/when they are? Do they cost anything? I have researched the WLS procedures, but am totally clueless on the steps to get the actual surgery. Any help is appreciated! Susan

Hiya Susan and welcome. Each bariatric center/surgeon should provide a free seminar to education you on all the aspects of surgery, from the different procedures offered, to hospital time/recovery, diet, exercise, etc. It should be free!!! You can find a list of the Tennessee surgeons here on the site. I am using Dr. Hugh Houston, and there are two others in his group. There is also a Dr. Husted in Nashville. Hope this helps! Melanie

HI Susan I am in Knoxville I attened a free seminar of dr Steven Boyce. I am going to go to a dr in johnson city for consult. Some surgeons will not see you until you have been to a seminar. So if you are interested in learnig about a dr call the office and ask if they have a class

Hi Susan, I just read your profile and saw that your doctor is Dr. Hruska. They don't have a seminar, atleast not yet. You need to call and ask for Leigh Ann - She'll answer all the questions you have about the surgery or atleast try to get you on the right track. The first time you have an appointment with Dr. Hruska - She'll go through the whole entire surgery process with you and answer all the questions you have. Her nurse will do the same! Good luck. -Katie
