Tenncare

I live in Middle Tennessee, near Murfreesboro. I am 5'9 and 360 lbs and desperately need this surgery. I was told I qualify for it, but I cannot find a surgeon who accepts Tenncare. I have 3 kids, 2 of whom are under the age of 3. Being this heavy makes it so hard to care for them and be the mom I want to be. I have to have this surgery but cannot afford it out of pocket. if anyone knows of a Dr ANYWHERE in md tn that accepts Tenncare Select BCBS, PLEASE let me know. I only have a little under 3 months left on my insurance, then my hubby gets it from his employer. I really need to try to do it while I am on Tenncare so time is of the vertue. Please help me.

Hello I also have Tenncare and I had my surgery done by Dr Agbunag at skyline med. center in Madison. But he does ask for a lot of info and it could take a while...but he was the only one that i could get to cooperate. Nicole carmack -145lbs 9 mths post

I have TennCare PHP, amd am going to Dr. Boyce in Knoxville. Also, Dr. Husted in Nashville takes Tenncare. You might have to travel a ways, but there ARE docs in TN that take it! I had to search and search before I found the right combination of waiting list, distance, and insurance approval

Just remember that all doctors, or rather specialists, limit the amount of Tenncare patients they take at one time. So, if you call a doc on the Tenncare provider list and they tell you they are not taking new patients, keep trying. Go down your list and then wait a couple of weeks or so and try again. It may take awhile, but it can happen!

This is also another area where case management could help. Doctor's offices tend to be a bit different when a case manager calls to see if they have any openings for new patients than when a TNCare recipient calls. Sad but true.

I don't know if you have found a surgeon, but there is one in Clarksville that you might want to check into. Her name is Lindy Hruska. They take tncare...just not sure what kind. I had Dr. Agbunag, but he is no longer taking tncare patients because they won't pay him. That is sad that our insurance company does that...they only hurt us. Tammy
