skin harvesting????

Hello Has anyone heard of skin harvesting? Someone told me that some hospitals will remove your excess skin for free for use for burn and cancer victims. Has anyone heard of this? Does anyone have info on it. I live in Chicago, Illinois. Thanks

I had an abdominal panniculactomy a couple of years ago. Prior to the surgery, I contacted the Alabama Organ Bank and ask them if they could use the skin for transplant purposes. They advised me that abdominal tissue is too fatty to be used in transplants or on burn victims. You could always contact your local Organ Bank for information in your area.

I have heard of it but I am not sure you could call the burn center next to you.I am still checking around my self
