Will Dr. Houston consider light weights for the DS?
Don't know about Houston since he was out of network for me.
Dr. Boyce was mine. My BMI was 35.2 going in and he was willing to do a DS. He just wants to know your reasons. I needed NSAIDS after surgery. I also ALREADY had Reactive Hypoglycemia as part of my diabetes. Having the RNY would make the RH worse.
I was down to ONE in network surgeon in my entire state willing to do a DS on a lightweight and IN network for me and that was Boyce.

I don't think I saw Dr. Boyce's name on the DSFacts surgeon list. Did I miss it?Dr. Boyce does them but is not on the list. Dr. Alfons Pomp/NYC use to be on the list til some decided he shouldn't be but he does the DS (did my husband's).
So while the list is a great resource, it isn't infallible.

My BMI was 47 and his comment to me was that he normally won't do the DS for those under 45 but he would be willing to do one for me because I was a little over that. Yep he thought the RNY was a better choice. I'm not sure why but I think it's because the DS has been known to be done for very overweight patients but that's just some of what I have read.
Did he agree to do the DS?
