Dr. Boyce and Financing Options

Anyone know of any good unsecured loan options? My daughter is in college and we're using our house for that. I just saw CareCredit for 14.9%. Yikes! That's scary.

HUGE Dr. B fan here - -glad to see you're choosing him! You will not be disappointed!

Do you have a 401K? I'm having to tap into mine to pay for round one of plastics this summer. You can borrow up to 50% of your vested amount, interest rate is prime (right now is 3.24%) and it doesn't show on your credit report.

I work for a financial institution and was told to stay away from Care Credit b/c it doesn't look good on a credit report but hey, we do what we gotta do, right?

Also, if you own ANYTHING that can stand as collateral, try it! My hubby's side by side ATV is paid for and the title is going up as collateral on the other portion of my plastics! Lawn mower, old vehicle, anything?

Be happy.

Hi KittenLove, I don't have a 401 as I work for the Government. Possibly I can look at a Roth IRA. Prime sounds really good. We also have a couple vehicles that are paid for. Great ideas! Thanks for helping.

I'm considering using my Care Credit for my plastics but you can do an 18 month same as cash if you can make the payment. We are going to get some things paid off though before I can do it.  My daughter is going to beauty school and we're going to have to go the financial aid route. I hate to put her into debt but we just can't use our house again for anything right now. I also hate going into my retirement. You have to pay at least 30% tax on it when you pull it out of your retirement. Any other suggestions are appreciated. I'm not dead set on anything yet. I was denied by my insurance for my plastics.

Thanks,
Janie

I'm not using care credit for the surgery, but I did open an account for some other medical expenses that I've had.  It shows up as a credit card or other revolving credit does on your credit report.  You have to make the choice if it is right for you.

I hope I get this finalized soon. Otherwise it could end up on a credit card. Of course, I think that's cheaper right now than a finance co.

My insurance denied 5 days ago and I haven't heard from the doctor yet. I told them when I started that I would be self-pay, so hopefully the phone call from them comes this week. Can you take a loan off your Roth IRA? I don't know if that works the same as a 401 k. Thanks, Diane
