Aetna Open access select through HCA?
I have Aetna Open Access Select.
I had surgery about 18 months ago. I had to go through a 3 month plan before approval. Once the paper work was submitted I was approved in about 1 week.
Make sure that your employer does not have an exclusion. If they do not, then you should be ok as long as you qualify and meet the requirements.
I hope that this helps.
Michael.

Jennifer, our Aetna plan just began covering surgery this year. They require completion of the three month prep program we offer or a six month weight loss attempt. After their requirements are met and everything submitted, it takes them about 14 days to respond. So far everyone who has met the criteria has been approved. If you want to start either program, just call 615-342-1231 on Monday and choose the option for the dietitian.
Thanks and have a great weekend!

Jennifer, that's right! I realized after I said that you'd already started. Since they just started covering it in January, folks are just now finishing the three months. We've had a couple approved already. So far, it's been pretty straight forward. Hope to see you soon!

Jennifer, I believe it's covered at 80% for both the surgeon and anesthesia. Please note, that you would owe 20% of the contracted rate with each provider, not 20% of their charges. We should have that specific information for you later this month after we have a couple of people whose claims have gone through and been processed.
Thank you,
Thank you,

Hi Jenny,
I have Aetna Open Acces thru the federal govt and I was approved with no problems after I had met all the requirements. I first got approved for the gastric bypass and recieved my approval letter within a week or two. I actually had a surgery date for the bypass when I found out that Aetna would pay for the lapband. It was my decision to go with the lapband instead of the bypass. I had not trouble getting approved for the lapband either. I wish you luck!
