Trip to the ER yesterday

I got up yesterday morning about 9:00 with my heart racing like crazy. I did not have any other symtoms at all, no chest, arm, neck, jaw pain. I check my BP and it was 111/76, but my heart rate was running anywhere from 120-150+. Phil was gone to church and I waited until he got home to tell him what was going on. So we headed to Summit ER, they got me right in started working on me at one time there where 6 people in my little bitty room not counting DH. It was a bit overwhelming to say the least. The doctor asked me how long this has been going on and I told him about 6-7 hours. He said that what I have done is I had given myself a stress test and the good news was, that I passed with flying colors, since it went on that long and I did not have any sign of any pain at all he said that my heart is strong and in great shape. The doctor started telling me what they was going to do and what was going to take place. They come in with this medicine and a crash cart, scared the heck out of me and I started crying my eyes out, which made my hear rate go even higher. He told me that the crash cart was just a precaution. The meds that he gave me would slow my hear rate down in about 5-7 seconds and during that time I would really fell bad, chest would hurt and there would be a chance that something might happen and they might have to shock me. Well they gave me the meds and I did feel like crap for several seconds. I would say it was like a triple dose of morphin, it went straight to my head, down my chest,to my toes, then it stopped. That took my heart rate down to 56 just in that short of time, weird feeling. After that they done another EKG this was number (4)and it looked great. He said that I have a electrical problem with my heart. It may not ever happen again, but it could just anytime. I will be having a follow up with a cardio doc this week. This condition it VERY scary, but 98% of the time is not dangerous at all, it just makes you think it is.

So that is how my Sunday went, hope everyone had a better one than I did. I will keep everyone posted when I know more this week.

Thanks,
Cheryl

Wow, Cheryl!  That was very scary.  I am glad you are okay.  Hopefully the  cardiologist will have some ideas to help you so you won't have this occur again.  You have been through a lot in the last month.

Best wishes!
Mary
