2 Years post op-gained back most of my weight

I had RNY in 2007. I did what I was supposed to right after surgery and up until 6 months post-op. When the weight loss started slowing down I became discouraged and sort of fell off and on the wagon ever since. I went to my 3 month post-op follow up visit but never returned because I was ashamed. I go back and forth in my efforts to lose weight. When I am happy and not as stressed I tend to want to try more, but when I get depressed all I want to do is lie around and eat junk food, especially m&m's. There is a local support group here but I am unable to attend because I work at night and that is when they have them. I am 1 hour south of Nashville and could not attend a support group on a regular basis there either. I was really serious about geting back on track so I went back to my surgeon, He told me that I had missed a golden opportunity by staying away for so long. came home and totally "decarbed" my house leaving only a cabinet for my husband to store his junk food with a chain and lock to keep me out of it. I lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks! But again I have fallen off the wagon.

I am sorry to hear this. I too have fallen off the wagon many times. I went from goal of 130 lbs to 116, up to 155, now back to goal.  It's easy to slip. You still have the tool, and the knowledge of what you need to do. Check into having the Rose Gastric done. There the Dr. just goes down the throat and tightens the pouch back up without having to go thru the major surgery again. Then you can get back on track.  I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers that you are able to start losing the excess weight again.

The Rose might be an option for me. I'll have to ask my surgeon. Thanks for the suggestion. Glad to hear you are back on track and doing well.

The fact that you were able to lose again shows that you have great potential to get back on track. Have you checked out all of the support group options we have? There are about 40 per month, although I believe you would be best served with one of the psychologist led groups. We do have a group follow up where you are at the office from 11-1 any Tuesday, you will see the dietitian, exercise physiologist and attend a psychologist led group. Please check out all of the offerings on the website www.cmcwls.com then go to our program, events calendar.

Pam, thanks for your post. Dr Olsen spoke with me about a revision BPD which is less invasive than DS. I have BCBS insurance and am wondering if they will cover it. I never lost my goal weight and wonder if this will help in their determination.

Why don't you fax your insurance card (front and back) over to us and we will check their criteria for revisions? Please fax to 342-1814, we'll check it out and let you know. Oh, and be sure to include your name and contact information.
