I got my surgery date last Friday! YIPPEEEE!!!!  My date is Dec. 21st.  This is the date that i wanted because i am in school and this is the begining of my school break.  The problem is next semester I will be starting clinicals (I am in nursing school).  I have to order my uniforms clinicals.  I am not sure what size to get.  Should i get a size or two smaller?  My clinicals will begin probably the second week in January.  So i guess i will be about 4-5 weeks post-op.  Do you think i should just order the size that i am currently? I can afford to buy more than one set of uniforms but i really can't afford to buy EVERY size!  Also, since the uniforms have to be ordered, it's not like i can just go out and get one whenever i want to.  Any suggestions would be so greatly appreciated!

Oh and fyi, I tried on the one that is my current size and it fits a little loose.  The size smaller, i can put on and button but it is too tight.

Anyone been in this situation?

I seriously went down a size about every month.  It's kinda annoying.  I would definitely buy the smaller one.

I would start with the size smaller and puchase the next size smaller anticipating weight loss. When I left work before surgery I was wearing XL scrubs. When I returned to work after two weeks I could still wear them but about two weeks later I could wear the Large. I have been in the large ever since and don't anticipate changing scrub sizes for a while. But, keep in my weight loss has been slow.

In regular clothes I have gone from a size 20 to a 16 in bottoms and can wear tops as small as 12/14. I have always been much larger at the bottom than the top.

Hope this helps.

Congratulations on getting your date!    I'm sure you'll lose quite a bit really quickly.   I saw a lady who was on one of the home improvement shows who had the RNY and it was cool to watch her shrink over the weeks they were working on her house!

Where do you go to school?   I went to nursing school in Nashville at Aquinas.  YAY for more new nurses!    Good luck and all the best in nursing school.   So much pressure but so worth it.   I have friends still from nursing school allllll those years ago!

Thanks so much!  I go to Tennessee Technology Center at Nashville for the LPN program.  Nursing is a career change for me ( i currently work in Child Protective Services). So the LPN program was the best fit for me to get my feet wet. it is soo hard, but I am doing well! It has been like 15 years since i have been in college so you know its kicking my butt!!!

Thanks everyone for the the suggestions. I did order it one size smaller.  I guess it is just hard to imagine going down a whole size that quickly!

Congrats on your surgery date!  I can't imagine going down in sizes either.  My surgery is scheduled for Dec 1st.  I'm so excited and I know you are too.  Also, congrats on your career change.  Take care!
