Do you take chewable, liquid, or open the capsule? How many mg of iron are you on?

I take chewable 29 mg 2 times a day. My iron was low at my first blood draw at 3 months post op. So they upped it from 18 mg 1 time a day they first recommended.

I have the DS, so my iron absorption is going to be better than yours.   In the DS, they divide the duodenum, so there is some of it still there to absorb the food and supplements I take by mouth.

But on the other hand, I have some sort of blood-making disorder where my RBCs never grow up and they die early.   So I have to take ProCrit shots to make more cells and I take three different kinds of iron to support the growing cells.

I take Ferrous sulfate, 325 mg., three times a day,
Foltrin (which is iron, Vit. C., intrinsic factor and some other vitamins) every day,
Proferrin (heme iron polypeptide) three times a day and
VironC (ferrous fumerate, 198mg  w/ Vitamin C, 375 mg) three times a day

I've had iron infusions, as well, but not for a long time.
