I have expereinced lower potassium levels since surgery due to malabsorption and lack of intake.  Low potassium can cause cramps as can dehydration.  Quite possibly there can be other causes that I'm sure I don't know about.  I suggest calling your doctor.  A simple blood test could give you some clues.

Low potassium and being dehydrated are the usual culprits for getting muscle cramps. Eat bananas, yogurt and make sure you are getting in enough fluids.
