high blood pressure and diabeties
Hey everyone, sorry for not posting more often. Been living in a tent since April and loving every minute of it. My health was doing great. Now I live in a house, my allergies are going thru the roof, my blood pressure was 186/99 yesterday, my sugar is hanging around 45. I haven't had any problems with my sugar or blood pressure since my surgery 3.5 years ago. Now they are acting up. How come? I lost a lot of unwanted inches living in the tent from the free sauna of no a/c. It feels like I lost 25 lbs as my clothes are so baggy on me, but according to the scales I didn't just inches. That I can appreciate. But why would my sugar and blood pressure start acting up?
Mom recently had 2 heart attacks and has another blockage. I know that puts me in a different catagory because I already have Congestive heart disease with a left ventricle getting blocked. I see my heart Dr. on Monday. I see my primary care at the VA on the 21st, but I don't see my diabetic Dr. until Oct. 2 when I will be in Morristown.
I still live in Lebanon. I even made the Tennessean paper and the news on two different channels because of my living in a tent. The Lebanon Democrat did a complete article on me as a Veteran. My Dr.'s all call me ms celebraty. I will try and post more often.

I'm glad things are looking up, Kathy and that you are in a house now. It had to be stressful and that may be affecting your blood pressure. Also, there is a genetic component to blood pressure that has nothing to do with your weight. My brother has always been thin as a rail and he takes meds for his blood pressure. Lots of skinny people have blood pressure issues. Maybe your doctor can help.
I've been reading about lots of RNYers who are having blood sugar issues. The most common help seems to be to watch your carb intake so as not to cause a spike in insulin production and end up having a low blood sugar episode. Aks you doctor about what to do.
Hang in there. So good to hear from you.
Blessings,
Karen

I had less stress living in a tent. I really enjoyed it. I had a raccoon that would come out and eat out of our hands in the evenings and eat the scraps, an owl that tooted around 2:30am, crickets to go to sleep by. I had an a/c in my tent window, a tv with my dvd player, a computer, internet the last part of my stay and a magic jack phone. I paid only $325 a month and I had 3 tents set up under a tarp. I was more relaxed and wish I was still at the camp site. I didn't have any allergy problems, now I stay conjested. A lot is because I am allergic to dust and dust mites, and they just put in new carpet. I sleep on a blow up mattress instead of a regular mattress and that helps with the dust mites. I hate being confined to a year lease. Don't get me wrong, I love my little nana house, it's really cute, but now I have to pay $500 a month plus utilities and that will leave me broke every month. But if it makes everyone else happy that I am in a house over the tent so be it. What about my happines? I was happy in the tent. Oh Well, when this lease is up, I will decide then whether to stay here or go back to the camp grounds. Glad to be back, have missed everyone so much.
