Long time no post/Bicycles for a plus size gal?
Been a long time since ive posted here, had a lot of family things going on...got side tracked with teh whole WLS but plan on getting back on the wagon this fall. I have a question for some of you though that ride bikes, real ones not stationary lol. I have decided I would liek to ride one again, not done that since i was 15...im 36 now lol...hope its true that you never forget how. I weigh appx 360 lbs so im a little nervous about riding one, but ive seen heavy people ride them so surely I could too!. THing is Im not sure what to get. My MAX budget is $200 but would rather be around $150. I dont need anything fancy but something that will hold up under my weight and slight hills etc. Ive looked at a few that i like but im just lost on what to get and what to look for. Any suggestions out there?
I have no idea of specifics. But I've seen Ruby bicycling on TV and she's still over 350# so I know that they are available.
Since I have no idea, I Googled, and I found a "team estrogen" forum, and they were discussing all sorts of specifics about bicycles. I found a thread titled "Too fat to cycle" and it's a nice, long one. One of the people said that when you're shopping for a bike, you're shopping for a bicycle shop. Unfortunately, I'll bet most bicycle shops don't have bikes in the $200 range. I'll admit it's been a long time since I've been in a bike shop, but they were REALLY expensive when I was looking. Like I'd be interested in a recumbent bicycle, and that costs thousands and thousands.
Anyway, here is the URL for the discussion, and I hope it helps you!! I'm not going to try to embed it, because I have trouble with that at this board.

Thank you Dennie...im going to read it here in a minute. Ruby is actualy my inspiration for the bike lol! I started watching her recently I LOVE her! Hopefully this weekend I will be the proud new owner of a bike and me and my kiddos can head over to the lake and go for a ride. I gotta admit though, im nervous as hell about getting my big butt on a bike. I couldnt even bring myself to try it out in the store the other day...ugh...how sad am I?lol
