(Happily) Broke the Weight Loss Gain/Stall...whew!

Well, the past few days I have (happily) lost weight...a week or so ago I posted b/c I had gained for the first time in my 5 months since WLS--2 pounds, to be exact.  It didn't come right off the next day, but w/in the past week I lost the 2 pounds and then about 2.5 more....so, I am feeling better.

The whole thing got me thinking about how getting on the scale & seeing my weight drop or maintain every morning has been such a motivation for me over the past five months.  It really is a little pick me up every morning &, when I gained, I found myself stressed & worried that my body had stopped losing weight b/c I am getting reasonably close to goal.  I had to convince myself that I was not going to let that happen & whatever it took, I was going to make it to goal.  I know that having lost 107 pounds in 5 months is monumental in my life, but there is something about getting to that "goal" number that will really make me feel like I accomplished what I set out to do.

And....everyone will be happy to know that I have done really well with banning the sugar free cool whip & sugar free pudding from the house....I don't even miss it.  I found the alternative of a cup of decaf coffee with about 2 tbsp of sugar free french vanilla cream does the trick if I need something sweet....

Oh...and two "wow" moments this week.  First, my husband referred to me as a "shrinky dink"....I LOVE shrinky dinks...ha!  And, second, I went to the Y to workout & the lady at the desk (who was new & didn't know me) wouldn't let me in!!! She scanned my card & apparently the picture pops up on their computer & it is still my picture from two years ago....probably when I weighed about 285 pounds.  She kept looking back & forth & then said, "Miss, I'm sorry, but this has to be your membership for you to use the facilities".  It took me a second & then I saw one of the girls who sees me all the time--she cleared it all up.....they told me that I should have another picture taken.....nope....not going to do that---I am hoping that someone else will not let me in!!! That was a wow, for sure!!!!!  Love it!!!!

Hope e'one is having a great weekend!!! xo, Micheala.

Great to hear!

And if you find you don't need the calories of the sugar free french vanilla, try some Davinci syrup or Capella Flavor Drops.  Zero cals.

Hang in there sis!  You're still on that roller coaster ride, isn't it fun?!

Mel--I'd love to drop the 60-80 calories the SF French Vanilla Cream adds...tell me more about the Davinci Syrup.....would it make the coffee creamy?....Typically I like "a little decaf coffee w/my cream"...so, I do like it "milky".  And Capella Flavor Drops...what can they do for my life...:)....I LOVED what you said (It has been ringing through my head for a week) that you always try to find the lowest calorie option for what you are eating....that is my mantra now....if I want something sweet I think about the lowest calorie option that will get me by...and it's working.

Yes, the roller coaster ride is such fun...HA!  But, I feel like I am learning & I knew that overcoming the learning curve would be part of this journey....so, bring it on!  More info please...xo, M.

Davinci syrup doesn't make a drink creamy...  but that's where Labrada Lean Body Vanilla RTD's come in!  lol.  Oh I can't live without my Labrada... Or, some choose Oh Yeah RTDs.  You can also try the low carb EAS that Walmart sells, or even the Atkins drinks...  it will add some calories, but it will also add protein...  Labrada is completely sugar free, not sure of the others (there may be a few g of sugar in the entire container, but next to nothing for the amount you would be using)....  The RTD would provide some creamyness. You'd need about 1/2 oz perhaps.  Now keep in mind, since these are protein, you can't get the temperatures too hot on your drinks or else it will "cook" or curdle the protein. That is nasty!  So, you want to only microwave your liquids for about 1 minute at the most, OR always use a coffee maker.  The temp of coffee from a regular maker is just right. HOWEVER, Senseo's curdle mine! ick.  It must be a hotter coil and gets the liquid too hot.

Davinci, Artista, Torani...  all are brands of sugar free syrups.  You can buy Torani now at Walmart in the coffee aisles.  Sometimes TJ Maxx and Marshalls sells sugar free syrups also in their food aisles...  and they come in a wide variety of flavors.  Check out their websites for more info, recipes, flavors (but you can get some locally, others on sites such as Netrition, etc):
Davinci
Torani
Monin
Artista

Not sure if you read Eggface's site or not, but she uses flavorings in everything.  You can use them in your baking, lattes, protein ice cream, shakes, oh just all kinds of possibilities.  Zero sugar, zero carbs, zero calories...  its a good investment.

Now, the Capella Flavor Drops are the same concept.  However, they come in small tiny plastic bottles that you could carry in your purse.  Carrying around a Davinci syrup bottle to your favorite coffee shop might get a little bit too much! lol.  But, these are so concentrated that you need only two to four drops in your drinks.  Same concept, just different "form".  They are also coming out with some new flavored water drops, and a flavored spray.  I'm waiting to get a sample of that in the mail... I'll let you know how that turns out.  Again, stats are zero.

Hope this helps.  Yes, right now during the weight loss mode, folks really don't pay as much attention to the calories...  but on down the road, 2, 3, 4 yrs postop... it counts.  Everything counts, and it will be more important to cut those calories whenever possible...  Let me know if you need any other info!
