How soon after surgery do we start our taking our calcium/B12/multivitamin?

I didn't start taking them until about 3 months out due to my severe nausea and other problems.  I do not recommend waiting this long.  I did have some deficiencies, thankfully all cleared up except calcium and working on that.  You should be having your pre-op class soon.  That would be a good time to ask the dietician.  Best wishes on your upcoming surgery.

i started mine when I got home from the hospital.  That would have been on day 5 post op.

Dr. Houston did my surgery on Aug. 10th and I went home on the 13th. He told me not to start my vitamins until the following Monday. I started mine then and now I'm getting just about all of them in except for the iron. It makes me sick to my stomach so I quit taking it. I hope I don't end up with problems from it. Guess I'll find out when I have my blood tests run when I go back. All in all I'm doing good with my vitamins now and I'm only 2 1/2 weeks out. I'm finding the protein to be the hardest thing to get in every day. I don't care for the shakes or the fruity drinks from nectar so I'm trying to eat enough chicken, fish, and turkey but having trouble because I get full to fast to eat enough.

HIJACK - Congrats on the 19 pounds Lisa - you are doing so well.

I began taking mine when Lisa started taking hers and I dont take iron either - my 3 month labs were good except for my D ws a little low.
