Vaca in Sevierville
We had an awesome trip to your fine State, and I can't believe you guys have no bugs -- no mosquitos, flies -- nothing, and I packed my Off for naught.
The zip line tour was TERRIFIC and I would suggest it to anyone! Just don't go back to the shop after the trip and wait around too long, otherwise some guy will badger you about buying your picture (for the low cost of $40 - but if you him and haw too long, he'll take it down to $30).
I didn't put 2 and 2 together to figure out I was going to a tourist destination -- Dollywood should have been the clue. I was thinking laid-back towns where "regular" people live. The area was great, though, lots to see and do. The only things I wish weren't present were the ticket sales people - what a pain in the butt. Other than that, and the fact that every time we turned the news on in the morning we found it was recorded (what's up with that?), we had an GREAT time.
Thanks, everyone!
I tried grits - good, and fried okra, which was tasty, too. No other oral pleasures, with the exception of the taffy (which is WAY better than the sal****er crap you get up here) and dark chocolate. I was surprised to see a Russell Stover's store. I thought RS was a Michigan-based company.
By the way, while traveling home I found a Sonic near Flint. Perhaps a road trip will be in the near future.
Cracker Barrel - I was close/kind of :)
We got the worst service at Cracker Barrel, and the second place in TN where the waitress just couldn't understand why I didn't want anything to drink. Hubby keeps telling me I should just ge****er, but I don't want to, and shouldn't have to. You can't even tell some of them that you just don't drink when you eat -- they don't believe you and keep asking if you want something to drink.
Anyway, we also went to a pancake house (one of about ten thousand they have on the Parkway) where I had the best pancake ever -- even better than Denny's and I think they have "da bomb" when it comes to pancakes.
We also learned the difference in ham in the South. The first ham slice hubby had was very, very, very, very salty (how in the world anyone can eat that type of ham I have no idea). He then got the baked ham, which was too sweet for me.
Even after surgery, I enjoy my dining experiences.
The only thing I didn't like was going up the mountains when it was raining. Other than that, you have a beautiful (but not much less expensive than Michigan) State.
