Important information about incorporating exercise

Hey all,

I just wanted to remind you all that it is very important, once you start this journey that you need to do some sort of exercise at least 3-4 times a week.

You do NOT have to join a gym (although it is very structured, and can be planned for like a business meeting).

Incorporate ANY type of exercise into your life... Go to the mall and walk around 4-5 times.  Take the kids to the park and play WITH them, walk around your neighborhood/apartment complex for 30 minutes or more.  Try out some of Nashville's WONDERFUL greenways (if you are in the Nashville area, Murfreesboro has a few greenways also).

Just remember that getting in exercise is very important for your success in this journey.  Makes you feel better, helps you get rid of that bad day that you had, helps to releive stress, etc.

Keep this in mind...

Never would I call anyone out... I did not even know that you may not go as often as we should...
I am just as guilty, as I've only been going VERY regularly within the last 3 weeks (3 times).  Before I would go maybe once or twice.

I only posted this because I just came from the gym and I always feel GREAT afterwards!!  I feel like I can rule the world!!

Absolutely!  Your IDGOMB (I Did Get Off My Butt) daily threads was a great idea Bob.  It helps keep us accountable to ourselves and each other.  Just my $.02 (or, as Mel says, $.49 due to inflation)!

This is a reply to your signature bama Bob.  I wrote it originally to one of the Bama fans always harassing me down here.  Just fun stuff.  No offense meant.  I just love these revelry's.

I use Cheer--thank you very much  And I don't even buy TP in a roll..  however I know we are in for a couple of tough years, but our time will come again.  A couple of more recruiting classes like this year and a premium QB and we will be BAAAAck!

I love this football stuff don't you.

Thanks for the reminder. It is sad but, with our busy lives I think some of us need a reminder. After surgery when can we start exersizing. Oh well I see my doc. tomorrow I will ask him.

Good reminder Michael. Exercise is critical to success. You need to do something everyday that gets you moving - walking, bicycling, aerobics, (push) mowing the lawn - whatever.  Things as simple as taking the stairs rather than the elevator, parking at the far end of a parking lot and walking farther, or playing catch with the kids or grandkids increases one's physical activity and can really add up.  The main thing is to MOVE YOUR BODY on a daily basis.

Also, once you get the all-clear from your Doc, weight training can be a big benefit in that it not only burns fat, it actually increases lean muscle which elevates metabolism, even when resting.

All of this is so true.  Even though I am still very overweight if anything this process has done for me it has reminded me of things that I missed out on.  I haven't started any of the hard stuff (the weights) yet but I go to the YMCA daily and I take a water aerobics class.  Just last year I never left the house and when I did I could not walk very far...now I am actually parking farther away from the door and walking with no problems.  The weight loss is great but overall just that I am able to do things that I haven't done in months makes it all worth it.
