Question about diet and calories and weight loss....

Hi everyone....this board has been such a help to me!

I am 4 weeks and 1 day post-op.  I'm doing well and have lost 35 pounds as of yesterday.

I am eating some chicken and still supplementing with protein shakes (Dr. Houston told me I would need to do this for a while).  My typical menu might be:

B:  Myoplex carb control shake   25g pro  150 cals
L:  2-3 ounces chicken   14-21g pro   60-90 cals
(Sometimes I will drink a myplex if I only eat 1-2 ounces for lunch)
D: 3 ounces chicken  21 g pro  90 cals
     1 T. green beans  0 pro.  3 cals

So I'm getting 60-67g protein daily and only around 300 to 330 calories (a few more if I drink 2 protein shakes) and I'm supposed to be eating 400-600 calories a day.  I get full when I eat and still have not experienced hunger.

I'm talking my vitamins and drinking most of my water (average 56 ounces a day).

I'm exercising 4-5 days a week - mainly walking, but I have a bad Achille's and am afraid of rupture, so I did the elliptical and bicycle this morning.  I will start weights and stuff in the next couple of weeks.

While I'm proud of my 35 pounds, my weight loss is really slowing down.  I only lost 2.4 pounds last week.

Is this normal?
Am I okay with not eating the minimum 400 calories a day?
Could this be slowing down my weight loss?

Any input anyone has will be helpful!

Thanks!
Angela

Your doing everything right! It's normal to hit plateaus your body is getting use to the new lower intake and doesn't want to give up the fat. You will turn around and drop several pounds in one day.  You can up your protein this kinda fools your body thinking its getting the protein from more food intake.  The exercise is great but I wouldn't do weights until your doctor clears you.  Early on you susceptible for hernia's. Be careful keep up the good work.  C'ya Bob

Ditto Bob L.  If you do what you're supposed to do, the surgery will do what it's designed to do. Just stay the course and be patient.
