101 Pounds Gone FOREVER & some new issues......

Bob--thanks so much for that advice....you know what...you are right...it's a slippery slope w/the sugar for me.  And, by the way, I can just add bread-addiction in there, too, because that was a HUGE one for me pre-WLS....it's funny.... I wouldn't IMAGINE having bread again....I absolutely know that would be a really bad choice & would put me back on a really bad path....that's a easy one for me, just like not having full sugar treats...I just won't do it....end of story.

But, the sugar free stuff is allowed in moderation & that is where I could fall off the wagon....because it's allowed I get it & then I am not controlling how much I have. It was easy at first b/c eating was so difficult...but now, almost 5 months out...it's easier to eat different things.

You are right....your post really made me think....this is one of those hard challenges that I need to commit to & rid myself of the SF cool whip & SF pudding & know I can't have that.  The surgery is just a tool, after all...I still need to use it correctly.

Thanks for your input.....xo, M.

I must admit, I failed to read the rest of the original post. It appears that I skipped the last paragraph all together.   I swear, I think I have A.D.D.    Anyway, ok forget my suggestion of the whip cream since that seems to be your fear or downfall.  Next time I will read til the end...

Sorry, Mel---I was so stressed about this I probably went on & on in my post & wasn't very concise....I'll work on keeping it short & sweet (no pun intended, of course)...lol...xo, M.

Why don't you come to one of the psychologist led groups as a "test drive" to see if you feel they would be helpful. Head hunger, cravings, emotional eating, self sabotage, these are all areas they talk about. Dr. Ihrig leads the groups every Tuesday and Thursday at noon; Dr. Livengood leads the groups on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Monday nights at 6.

Congrats on 101!

Thanks, Pam---I have actually been to Dr. Ihrig's group 4 or 5 times--I like it.  I guess these issues can pop up at any time...good reason to keep going...I didn't expect it....I am sure that going cold turkey w/anything sweet is the way to go for me.  Even feeling a little deprivation is manageable & easier than dealing w/weight gain.....I might try Dr. L's group & see how I like a female perspective...thanks again for a great Franklin Group on Monday night...I am looking forward to going to the Realize My Success site & also the Centennial site & getting active on that....it's on my TO DO list!! xo, M.

Michaela,

Go you! way to rock your surgery!

I think its great that you're recognizing these things. My sweet tooth (which was AWFUL..I used to eat a box of LIttle Debbie's in one sitting) hasn't returned full force but when i want a little something, i take a spoon of natural PB, soften it just a bit in the microwave, then stir in SF Hazelnut syrup then stir in cool whip. filling, dessert-ish, and protein!

Be happy.
