Hey all... Warning!
Hi all,
Just a warning...
As a Bypass patient... you need to be careful when consuming alcohol.
One drink can make you over the limit driving. Be very careful.
I'm at home and had a bad day and decided to have a few drinks. It makes to you drunk fast.
BTW, I'm a year out so i've got permision from my surgen. Just be careful.
Michael.
PS I don't drink very much at all, but had a bad day at work so had a few drinks.
Just a wanring, please don't if you are a new post-op.

Yes, and to add on to that Michael, we do lose our "sense of drunkness" VERY fast. You can get the drunk feeling over and over again on a whole glass of wine because with each drink, you get that "intoxication" feeling but lose it very fast. That does not mean that a person is no longer drunk a few minutes later... it just means that you have lost the feeling. I did read that even a person who consumed an alcoholic beverage (a bypass patient, that is) and no longer "feels" drunk, even an hour or more later, their blood alcohol levels are still considered illegal and can get a person drunk driving tickets, or jailed... What you say is so true.
If a person chooses to drink, then always make sure you are not driving! And, that you are with someone who you entrust your life with. Luckily, when I decide to enjoy a sugar free Margarita (thanks, Zilch Mixers!), Tim is always driving and always present. I do not ever get behind the wheel, period....
