OT - looking for Nashville dentist recommendations
Hi - The dentist I've been going to moved from South Nashville to Hendersonville. It was worth it to follow him, but he apparently has retired, leaving the practice to a perfectly nice dentist. But it's not worth it to drive an hour to go see the new one.
I have NO idea about finding another dentist. I'm not working any more, so I don't have people to ask. Do any of you know of any really good general dentists in Nashville? Preferablly South Nashville or even West Nashville?
I can stay with the new guy, but I'd just as soon have somebody more convenient. Any good dentist stories to share?
Thanks!!
Dennie

Hey Dennie!
I go to Dr. Shulman in Green Hills. I've seen him and Dr. Solomon and they're both great. Dr. Solomon is my favorite.
If they're taking new patients, be sure to ask for a Wednesday appointment and get Patty. I LOVE PATTY! She's a nut and I always get there early so we can have lots of time to be silly together. I'd probably be more likely to follow her than the dentist. Fortunately my teeth are pretty solid and I don't have many problems. I have had a few fillings replaced there and everything went really well.
I do go every 4 months for cleanings because I am the queen of tartar!
Good luck on your dental quest!
Sorry. I just learned that I can use Smiley Central if I use firefox and I'm getting a little emoticon happy!

Thanks so much! Recommendations from people who go to them is so important to me. It looks like Dr. Shulman is on my insurance but Dr. Solomon isn't. But I'll call them up and find out, the website for the insurance says that it tries to be up to date, but doesn't promise much.
Interesting thing about the Smiley Central and firefox - I use firefox too and I didn't see a single smiley in your post. Hmmmmm

You're welcome!
I had a really evil dentist as a child who was a big jerk. So it took a long time for me to get over my dental phobia. I've been with Shulman for YEARS and enjoy his clinic a lot.
I've never had to have anything major done and hopefully we'll keep it that way.
Oh--you know how molars have those 4 cusps? I have a fifth cusp on one of mine--it's called the cusp of Carabelli (I call it the cusp of Ghirardelli, personally, ' cause it's yummier). Once there was a young dentist at the clinic . . . pretty much whomever's there comes by and takes a look after your cleaning.
Anyway, Patty says, "Look--she's got a cusp of Ghirardelli!" To which I responded, "Yeah, it makes it easier to identify the body by dental records!" I think that totally freaked the kid out! Dude. It was a JOKE! That's why I love Patty--she gets me!
Freaky that the dang thing didn't show up. It is a smiley of a little guy brushing his teeth. Hmm.
What about this one:
