I worked at the Peddler Resturant and Lounge on River Road in Gatlinburg for 10 years. GREAT food , GREAT service, but expensive. If you can get in to eat (there is always a wait but they have call ahead seating) it is worth it. I still eat there when I go back to visit. They have a website so you can see the full menu. ~shell

Thanks, Shell.  Sounds like something we'd be interested in.  I'll be checking out their website.

It's times like these, Shell, that I wished we had a laptop and cellphone.  We're going to have to find a phone somewhere in order to call the place we're staying to get the code to get into the house!

If you know of a good breakfast place (I prefer "holes-in-the-wall" as opposed to chains 'cause they usually have the best food), let me know.  We'll probably roam around the area to see what's where.

Are you guys in a dry county, or can I buy liquor and/or beer?

Sevier County  is not dry, you can buy liquor and beer and most resturants have a full bar.  I lived there for 21 years and there use to be a place in Gatlinburg off of Hwy. 321 where all the locals went for breakfast , It was called the Mountain Lodge. They always had good breakfast and lunch .........good home cooked meals. I hope it is still there. We moved a few years back because it just got too crazy with the traffic. I owned a house in severville and worked in G-burg and it took forever to get back and forth to work especially during season. I just got tired of the traffic! Hope you all enjoy your cabin and have a great vacation!! Let us know if you see any BEARS!! ~shell

Thanks for the reply, Shell.  My husband will be happy he'll be able to buy beer.  If I find the restaurant, you know I'll be stopping for breakfast.  I hope to see a bear or two.  We supposedly have one in our neighborhood in Michigan, although I haven't seen it; the neighbor claims to see it every now and then.

I'll let you guys know how the trip was when we get back.
