Need some answers

I'm sure this question is posted all the time, but I can't seem to find it when looking through the old posts.  So I am 3 weeks out and have really started to commit myself to exercising on a daily basis over the past week.  I'm walking at least a mile a day on an incline and getting my protein and fluids in.  I haven't seen the scale move in the past 4 days.  Did anyone else have a problem that once they really got into exercising the scale didn't move?!?!?!?!  Is this just my first major stall and it just happened at the same time I started to really get into exercising.  Of course the lazy girl in my head keeps telling me to quit exercising and I'll start losing weight since I was losing before I really got into the whole exercise thing, but I know that can't be right.  Am I doing something wrong?  I'm eating 60 grams of protein a day or at least very close to it and getting at least 64 ounces of liquids per day and taking all my vitamins so what's wrong?

I've read on the main board, which the main board completely scares me, that people should lose 30 pounds within the first month and i am now stuck at 20.  I just don't want to be a failure, and I know I'm not but my old self is trying to make me feel that way.  Could anyone give me some advice on what I should be doing or if I just need to hang in there and the scale will move?

Thanks so much in advance!
Heather

Yep, you are doing the right thing.  Just continue to do what you are doing.  Eating according to plan, and exercising.

If you asked just about everyone on the board, they have all had the dreaded 3 week plateau.  It is very common.  Just don't get discouraged.  Just continue according to plan (eat right, fluids, supplement's, and exercise) and you will be fine.

It will start to move.

Don't forget to also take measurements.  You are prob finding that your clothes are fitting looser, etc.

You will get past this as we all have.  Good luck!

Thanks Michael, I just needed some encouragement to get me through this.  I figured it was normal but I'm a newbie and of course I'm getting all tore up over minimal things.  I just see how fantastic everyone on here has done and I want to be as successful!

Heather,
Micheal is right keep doing what your doing no heavy lifting until cleared from your doctor.
The plateaus are common one way to restart your loosing is to up your protein, this will cause your body to think you've really increased your food.  In the past increased protein only came from a large amount of food instead of through supplements
. Another helpful hint don't weigh but once a week then only on the same scale, the same day, first thing in the morning.  Of course if your still having your period skip that weeks weigh in.
Good Luck. C'ya Bob

Thanks for the advice Bob.  I may try increasing my protein and see if that helps.  I would love to only weigh one time per week, but it's like I have an addiction to the scale now and I HAVE to weigh every day.  I think my family may need to have an intervention with me for the scale issues
As for the period issue,I don't even want to think about when that time comes around....humph! that'll add at least 5 pounds.

Thanks again

Heather,
Glad I could help, but try and cut down the scale watch and if you cant at least just do it first thing in the morning.  Through out the day your weight can vary 4-5 lbs, which would bum you out and make it harder to stay motivated.

I've stopped trying to predict when my body will lose weight or why it happens in 'chunks'. It seems to find a new routine every couple of months.

Just stick with the program and the weight will drop. You have to put trust in this. It will happen. No need for the excess worry.

Good luck!

Thanks Steve,
I think I'm going to hide my scale and only start weighing on Monday mornings.  I'm hoping that maybe I'm building some muscle and that's why I haven't lost weight lately.  I just don't want to disappoint my surgeon when I go back for my 1 month visit and I haven't lost enough weight.

Hi Heather,
I am so excited you have had your surgery, and doing well!.  I am Peggy from the Tammy's group meeting.  I was wondering how you were doing.   I normally don't post, I guess I am too shy.  I just like to read everyone elses''ha-ha.  But so glad that you are doing well, other than wanting the scale to move a lot quicker.  Of course we all do.  But it will happen.  I just wanted to say hello, and congratulations on your surgery.  Let me know if there is anything that I can do to help.   Have a great evening:)

Hey Peggy!!!!  I've missed you at the last couple of meetings.  I hope all is going well with you.  I don't typically post all that often either, but I was just really frustrated and afraid that I had messed up.  Hope to see you next month, which by the way I'm sure you look amazing since you have been doing so great over the past several months.
