Follow up is CRUCIAL for long term success after surgery - today is another Super Tuesday at Centennial! Group follow up begins at 11 (please arrive by 10:30 to complete your paperwork and have your labs drawn), plan to be at our center from 11-1 to access ALL the support services that facilitate your SUCCESS after SURGERY! While calling your surgeon's office in advance will facilitate check-in, it is not required. (Dr. Olsen's office 342-5840, Dr. Dyer's office 342-5830, Dr. Houston's office 342-5820.)

For our CMC patients who are at least 9 months postop. and not having any concerns that require a visit to the surgeon, we are offering group follow up every Tuesday. Additionally, if you had your surgery somewhere else and would like to transfer your aftercare to Centennial, please e-mail me at [email protected] or send me a PM through the OH site.

Pam,

I will be 9 months post-op on August 6.  Should I be going to this follow-up group ur referring 2?  What is it and where?  I'm beginning to feel like I need something besides Dr. Charles' group on Thursdays.

Each surgeon decides when they are ready to allow the individual to go to group follow up - typically, it's around the 9-12 month mark depending on how you're doing. This is a two hour session held every Tuesday from 11-1, we encourage you to arrive by 10:30 so you can complete paperwork and have your labs drawn (if due at the time) before the group begins. The dietitian and exercise physiologist will each review components essential to facilitate achievement of your goals and maintenance of your goals - based upon the review, you will identify strengths and opportunities as well as set your individual goals, Dr. Ihrig completes the group with a focused central theme - one of the following - emotional eating, head hunger, self sabotage, body image, etc.

I so frequently hear from patients who have either not lost as much as they would like or they have regained a few pounds and they say they don't want to come in to see the surgeon until they have lost that weight - well, that's why we are all there, to help you lose the weight. The other comment frequently made is, "I know what to do, I'm just not doing it" Well, when folks come back in and see all the support services, then we typically hear, "You know, I forgot I wasn't doing such and such" or "I really can get back on track".

Hope this helps!

Have you considered streaming the support meetings online for out of state patients and others that can't get there. I am 4 hrs away, but I would like the support.

I am active in a local group, but would like to get to know some of Dr. Houston's patients too.
