OK back to VANDY but for kidney surgery this time...

I found out I am definately loosing my left kidney, and quite possibly my right one.  Which would leave me with none and on the transplant list.  I am going to Vanderbilt tomorrow for an appt with a surgeon who will perform the surgery and make a determination as to if I can keep the right kidney.  If not, it is dialysis three times a wee****il I receive a donor organ.   If I can keep only 1/2 of the right one, I won't have to do dialysis.

It all seem so surreal right now, basically the tumors have been growing a while, (and have NOTHING to do with my weight loss surgery) but Tuesday was the first dramatic symptoms I had, which thankfully I went to the ER, and thankfully they did a CT-scan thinking it was my appendix.  Otherwise they could have gone undetected.  The type of tumor is called AML (it has a HUGE name) but the doctor today said 99%  of these type of tumors are not cancer.  The left kidney is completely engulfed with a tumor, the right one has a small AML on the top and bottom, but the reason I might lose it is because of some "questionable echos" that are showing up on the scan.  Basically I will go into surgery not knowing if I'm coming out with one or no kidneys.  So while I have a long road ahead, that is one thing I might not have to worry too much about.

If I lose both kidneys I might be "hitting you up for one of yours!"

Thank each of you for your prayers and I ask that you please keep them coming!  If I am absent for a few days, my sister will be in touch with Ronda who is my angel through this she will post on the boards as Cindy lets her know!  OR you can always just drop by Vandy and look me up!  Thank you for listening to my worried ramblings, too!!

HUGS

You are in my thoughts and prayers as you go through this.   I hope you're able to keep an appreciable amount of kidney and avoid the whole dialysis/transplant situation.

I know it's a hard, scary situation.   You've got a lot of people pulling/praying/sending good thoughts for you!

Hey Girl!

Just keep one thing in mind, you are in our thoughts and prayers!  If there is one thing I know, it's that our God is a healing and powerful God!

Breathe, take one day at a time, and believe!

We'll be seeing you very soon!

I am so sorry this is happening to you. My husband's cousin had to have one of her kidney's removed and I know how hard it was on her so I cannot imagine going into surgery not knowing. Please keep us informed and we will be keeping you and your family in our thoughts and prayers.

Oh my goodness, Amy!  Hopefully they caught this in time so that your right kidney can stay.  You know that's what I'm hoping and praying for!

I'll come by the hospital and check in on you, so you can have some entertainment while recovering.  Please keep us posted so we can be there for you as much as you can stand it!

Sending big, healing hugs and a few Tuesday kisses your way!
