Do you count calories?
My name is Alisa and I was banned about 2.5 months ago by Dr. Spaw. I have been losing weight slowly but now it has stalled for about 3 weeks. I ate what the nutritionist told me..3 meals a day, ½ - ¾ cup and eat protein first and if you are still hungry then eat veggies and then fruit. I logged on Sparkspeople.com to see how many calories I am eating, it said about 700 calories. Could it be that the reason I am stalled because not enough calories. I best my diet on the menu plan that the nutritionist gave me. If you guys count calories, how much you normally geting in day?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you so much,
Alisa (mama to 3 fantastic boys)
I had RNY so my needs are a bit different so I hope some Banders have advice for you but I would suggest you call Heather (the new "Nut")and go over what you are eating and see what she suggests.
I am 11 months out and stalled and she was able to go over my food logs with me and tell me where my problem was. Now hopefully I can get that scale moving quicker!

Stalls are normal your body hits plateaus the tries to hold onto the fat to avoid starvation. Your calorie intake is perfect! A little trick to bump yourself out of a stall is to increase your protein not your calories usually through protein drinks. Your body will recognize the increase in protein and assume you've increase your food intake so it will start back using your stored fat, thus letting you loose again. C'ya Bob
Bob beat me again.. but he has great advise!!!
I was banded in December... and stalled, talk to nutritionist, and I've kicked up the protein and exercise, and while I still have stalls, they do not last as long.
(edited to add an answer to your question) I do and a don't count calories, which means at a meal, I will look and see how many calories I am eating, and if it seems too much, I adjust the meal, I try to stick with somewhere around 200 per meal including protein shakes, which some protein drinks can be up around 300 if you don'****ch the labels carefully. The one thing I watch the closest is the protein number... how much protein are you getting a day???
Good Luck and wow.. 3 boys.. I have one, and I have no idea how you do three!!!
