Baptist support group last night (tuesday) - Goals
All,
Just wanted to let you know about the support group last night at Baptist.
Great topic for those who missed it. It was about goals.
We all need to set goals, both short term, easily obtainable, and long term goals.
When you get "stuck" on a platau during your weight loss journey (and we all KNOW that it WILL happen) we need something that will keep you motivated, thus NSV, or goals.
For example I've had a few. I wanted to ride in a roller coaster, I have, several times this year. I wanted to buy clothes in a mall, I have. I feel better about myself, I feel better health wise as well. Those are all goals that I have successfully completed.
My main goal that I want to do is Skydive! The weight limit is 225lbs. It was entirely out of the question last year. But now I'm able physiclly. Hopefully I will be able to skydive by the end of summer. I also want to be able to fly in an airplane, but I think I'm fine with that now, but until I am able to fly, it is still a goal that has yet to be obtained.
What are some of your goals that you want to be able to do, or that you have done?
Michael.

Painted my toenails this week without twisting myself into a pretzel. I swung that knee right up in under my chin and went to town!Ran up 3 flights of stairs - yeah, I was panting, but before - I couldn't have done it at all! Also rode roller coaster - but made me deathly ill. Boy, am I enjoying the water parks, though! Water slides are great!Which brings me to my size 12 swimsuit - down from size 26!Thanks for posting this - it reminds me of all the great NSVs I've had so far, and I need to stay reminded!
Michael,
Last night's topice was great. I remember when I reached some of my short term goals how good they felt:
1. Wrapping a bath towel around me and it covering my whole body
2. Being able to wear a hotel bathrobe
3. Tying my tennis shoes
4. Flying and easily fitting in the seat
5. Buy a bathing suit and WEAR it
Now I'm working on some of my long term goals:
1. Go on a cruise--leave this Sunday
2. Become a Motivational/Grief Speaker--training to be a grief facilitator
3. Walk 5 miles
4. Walk the Music City half marathon
5. Travel the US and maybe even Europe--taking walking tours in all the cities I visit
I done everything on my short term list and hopefully will accomplish my long term goals. If not I have at least written them down so you guys can hold me accountable.
Will sign off until I get back in town.
