New and starting process

My name is April...I am new and just starting the process.   I need to lose over a 100 pounds and I am anxious to get started....I have spoken with Centennial, and have schedule the introduction seminar (not sure of the official name)...They have requested my medical records, so they can start the approval process for my insurance.  She told me Tri-Care is usually pretty easy to deal with, so i am hopeful.

I dont know which procedure that I am going to have yet.   I thought my mind was set until I started researching, and now I am not so sure.

My husband is currently deployed, but will be home soon for R&R and he will attend the introduction seminar with me.   My mom will be the one helping me after the surgery, so she may go too.   They are both very supportive.  I haven't told many people yet. We have three children, 10, 5, and 4.  They are embarassed by my weight, but tell me all the time they love me anyways.  I would love for them to be proud of me when I take them somewhere, but more importantly i would love to be able to be active with them.

Congratulations on taking your first step! It's an exciting journey and for me, it was the best decision I have ever made. I got my life and my health back, and instead of feeling hopeless, the sky is now the limit. I remember attending my intro seminar earlier this year. Boy have I come a long way since then....

Good luck and keep us posted as you move forward!

Welcome and good luck...  LOTS of Cennitial folks on the boards who I am sure would answer any questions you have!!!

I had weight loss surgery because of my son who was only two at the time, and yes, they love us anyway, but it is so much nicer to be able to go outside and play with him rather than just sit and watch!

Not to mention at the fireworks display last night, he went after who he thought was his uncle and I had to run him down (and I did it!! without thought, I jumped and RAN!!! after him!)

Good luck again, and if I can answer anything I will!

Hello, my name is Ronda, and I can't say enough good things about your
choice of Cen.....and my surgeon Dr. Houston.  I had the DS surgery and
it was the right surgery for me. You need to research all the different
surgeries and get the best one for you.

Lots of luck

Welcome. I love Centennial. They are very helpful and communicate well. You will receive a lot of answers to questions at the seminar (verbal and written).

OH has been awesome, it is like stepping into another world where people who have been where you are and are already where you are going.

Let me know if I can help.

Hi April!   Welcome to OH and all.   Have you decided which surgery you're interested in having?   I've heard good things about TriCare being reasonable and easier to work with than many.

Good luck and best wishes on your new journey!

Thanks for the warm welcome....I haven't decided which surgery I want...I had made up my mind, then I did the right thing and I am now trying to decide.   I was determined the only WLS i would have was the band...Then I started leaning towards the RNY, then I heard about the DS...My mind is confused.   I know that TriCare covers the band and RNY, however, I think it excludes the DS.  My plan is go to the meeting, then to talk to the surgeon, then decide.
