feeling "old and achey" lately
Need some input from my WLS family. Now that I am half way to my goal, when I first stand up or as I am walking around, I sometimes feel like an elderly person (no offense to my older friends out there). My bones (body?) seem weak/ frail /achey - sort of difficult for me to describe exactly. I'm not in 'pain', but I move a little 'slower' than before surgery.
(I sometimes get a mental picture as I am walking around of an elderly man hunched over hobbling with a cane. I know that is an unusual comparison and my issue is nowhere near that severe, but that oddly is what comes to mind related to how I sometimes feel).
I am 36, healthy, and take all my vitamins including 1500mg daily of Calcium Citrate.
Could it be my spine/bones trying to 're-adjust' to my new weight? Is it my body asking for a certain nutrient that I am no longer getting from my high protein meals?
Have any of you experienced something similar that you could share with me (us)?
Thanks again (as always).
Steve

That is unusual. Only thing that I can suggest is if it continues to contact your PSP.
The only thing that has ever happened to me is I would get up and get a little dizzy, but that eventually went away. Some have told me that it might have been dehydration, but not sure, because I was getting in all my fluids.
Michael.

Yes, it is the side effect of wls. I too feel that way when i first stand up. it is gravity and OLD AGE creeping up. of course i have a few years on you. but the fact that we have both lost significant weight makes us look "OLD" when we stand up. but it should go away with in a minute or so - if it doesn't then be worried.

Hmm I don't remember feeling old, but achey, yes. My back hurt so bad at one point that i had to see a chiropractor. He said that the back/spine adjust in order to carry your weight where you carry it. Mine was on my front (my belly). When the weight was being lost, my back had to reshift. You would think that since it was going to readjust to "normal" stance, it would be better... NOT so!
I do remember feeling extremely tired several months after wls. If it persists, talk to Dr. Houston about it. he may check your calcium levels if its something that continues. Are you taking calcium dailiy? That is very important or else a person can get bone problems. And if you're not taking calcium, it takes about 3 months to really show up. But from what I remember, you're on calcium? Just checking! I can't remember too well.
