Hi everyone,

Is there anyone out there, who has had the Stomaphyx Revision Surgery.  I'm a Vanderbilt patient, and they don't have the device needed for the surgery. They have been trying for over a year to get the device, but were recenly turned down, again.  If anyone lives in Nashville, and has had this, please let me know.

Thanks,
Beth

I'm not sure, but I think Dr. Dyer at Centennial does Stomaphyx.  Check there and also with Baptist.  Are you looking more for Stomaphyx or staying with Vandy?

Best wishes on your search for whatever you need to do.

I really want to stay at Vandy, but they've been trying to get the device for more than 9 months, and I'm tired of wating.  I've gained my weight back, and and starting to loose the feeling in my legs, again. I did some research, and Dr. Dyer does do the procedure.  Thank you for your wishes.

Does TN have Certificate of Need laws?  When I lived in CO they had them and hospitals had to get approval before they could buy major equipment.  That sounds like what's going on here.  i.e. Vandy could be getting a denial because there is another hospital in Nashville that does have the equipment.  It's supposed to keep health costs low, but in essence just makes it more difficult for the patient.  Like getting approval to go out of network if the place that does have the equipment is not in your network.  All that does is create layers of bureaucracy and that never lowers costs.

With the problem you're having with your legs, I hope you get this fixed soon.
