Eating Too Much To Get In Protein!!
I really need some advice here. I am eating too much, trying to get in my protein. And I feel miserable and depressed. I have kept a food journal since the day I got out of the hospital and in the beginning it was easy with the use of unjury and the Myoplex, but it has gotten so very hard. I don't know exactly what type of help I"m asking for I just know that I am on a downward spiral and I need advice. I would even except a word for word menu, if someone could provide it. I follow written directions well. Please help me, I am scared!
This very reason is why many of us STILL use protein shakes... once, I ate all day long and knew that I knew I surely had in 60 grams of protein! I was so full until I thought my stomach was gonna burst wide open! I kept a chicken breast with me for about 4 hours, and ate on it until I was finally able to finsh. At day's end, I had only eaten THIRTY EIGHT PROTEIN GRAMS! I needed divine intervention, and Thank the Lord for Paula, Kim and Susan who was my divine intervention!
They shared protein shakes with me, until I went away with four that I liked and could stomach. From that time on, I used protein shakes. I love them. I have one a day, sometimes two because I cannot eat breakfast. I can get in 46 grams of protein just in those two shakes and the rest from food.
I will say that your surgeon does not want you to drink protein shakes after six weeks. I had my surgery at the same office but not the same doctor, and I broke that rule and do it anyway. It was vital that I did it because of how sick I was at 2 1/2 mos (stricture) and my protein levels were so low that Dr. Houston said he did not care HOW I got that protein, just that I DID get it. Shakes were my salvation.

Ditto what Mel said! Protein shakes are my friend. I drank them when I owned my gym a few years back, and I still drink them today. I like them. They are a great way to get the protein in, along with some good quality foods like chicken, turkey, tuna, etc. Now that I'm hitting the gym regularly and trying to build quality lean muscle, I have to have about 2 a day in order to get in enough protein to build muscle. Of course, the nutritionists all prefer that you "eat" your protein, but that just ain't gonna work for me all the time.
Be sure to concentrate on eating your protein first when you do eat food. Then, go to veggies or fruit, and lastly, if you are still hungry (which I doubt you will be) a few carbs.

Marilyn, there are several days of sample menus in your Owner's Manual. Also, Pam has added some recipes to our message forum http://cmcwls.com/messageboard/viewforum.php?f=10&sid=a3baa9 ce1112ad6bd670bfa4c2b74ca7
Three 3 ounce servings of chicken, turkey, or fish get you 60 grams of protein.
Hope this helps!

Thanks to all! I eat primarily chicken, tuna, eggs, carbmasters, turkey sausage, salmon, and EAS RTD's. Dr. Olsen told me on my last visit that if I have trouble with breakfast that he will let me drink an EAS. But to make sure that I'm not looking for something to eat a few hours later. I try to only eat every 6 hours and I kinda think that is the culprit. I have thought about eating something (protein) every 4 hours. I am not feeling full when I eat and I don't know if it is just me or for real. I have also noticed that my body is playing tricks (maybe not), cause when in the hospital I could get in the straigh****er and then the crystal light at meals. But for the last week I will get my bottle of crystal light and it taste horrid so I opt for jus****er. The next bottle it's reverse.
I am doing alot of the meal plans that are in my owners manual. Being able to afford alot has it's drawbacks too. I guess that is why I eat the things I do because they are economical. I know that it is all in small portions but over a months time it is draining, especially when you feed two others and they don't eat what you eat. My daughters favorite word is "YUCK". Guess I should be happy cause it used to be "NO".
I have opted to do the treadmill. I do 1 hour one day and then 30 mins. the next day. This is because of the back pain that is killing me. I have a bulging disc and was told that surgery was not an option but that weight loss would improve it immensely.
Please don't think that I am making excuses, I am truly scared at failing this. Not just for myself but for my daughter. She still ask me everyday, "Mama, can you run with me yet"?
I will take all advice and once again thank you ALL!
