Looking for Surgeons in Knoxville Area

Good day,

I hit a roadblock today - Dr. Sass out of Chattanooga no longer takes any form of TennCare (I have BlueCare).  Ugh!  But, I just need to pick myself up and move on!

Can anyone recommend doctors in the Knoxville area?  I live in Cleveland, TN, about 90 miles or so to downtown Knoxville... so it's not too bad of a drive for me.  The ones I've come across so far are Foothills and Parkwest.  I'd love to hear from any of you who've used these centers, and your overall experience.

Thanks in advance and best wishes!

Hi Bela,

I can recommend Parkwest (now New Life), they are awesome!!  I had my surgery on 5/27/09, Dr Williams was my surgeon.

The entire staff there is so wonderful, helpful and patient.  I can't say there is anything that I can complain about.

Good luck with choosing,
Jamie

Here are your choices in the Knoxville area.  Dr Boyce and Williams are with New Life at Parkwest Hospital in west Knoxville.  They by far have the largest practice in Knoxville area.  Dr Colquitt and Ray are Foothills Bariatric at Blount Memorial Hospital in Maryville.  Drs Matt and Greg Mancini are at UT Hospital.  I know Drs Boyce, Williams, and the Mancinis personally and can definitely vouch for all of them.  I do not know what TNCare they take though.  You will need to contact their respective offices to find out.  I wish you the best in your search!

Thanks to both of you for your help!  I looked into all of them and decided to start off with a seminar at Foothills (Dr. Colquitt) in Maryville.  I'm scheduled on July 9, so we'll see how that goes.  I made sure he accepts my TennCare (BlueCare), but I'll call to the other doctors and verify with the, too, in case I change my mind.  =)

I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Boyce's practice (New Life). Actually, i saw him yesterday when my friend Angie had her RNY at Parkwest and i tell you, i can't say a bad thing about this man. He did my RNY and my gallbladder removal two weeks ago and i wish he could be my PCP!!

Be happy.

Thanks, ladies!

As for Dr. Boyce - I've been reading up on him tonight and I see great reviews of him.  Plus (and I didn't notice this the other night), his stats on here say he has performed 1400 lap. RNY surgeries to date.  That's great!

I only wish they had the seminar dates online.  I'll have to call them tomorrow and see what they have available and whether or not they accept BlueCare/TennCare insurance.

I appreciate everyone's input - thanks so much!

Happy & Safe 4th of July To All!

I called Dr. Boyce's office today & unfortunately - they do not accept BlueCare.  My seminar with Dr. Colquitt is a week from today and I've read great reviews about him, as well.

Thanks again for your input - I really appreciated it!

Best wishes,
