Intro - Haven't Been Here in a While!
Where to begin? My name's Bela - 33 year old living in the Cleveland area (near Chattanooga). I've been on this WLS ride several times now - but have never had the surgery.
The first time around, the dr. stopped performing the surgeries before I was approved. Second time around I was approved for RNY when I only wanted Lap Band, so I chickened out. I could kick myself for that one, LOL, especially since I've since decided on the RNY instead! Third time around, insurance issues. 4th time around (the last time), I had to quit when I was told I could have cancer and had to undergo major surgery.
So here I am again, and dang it, this better be the last time I am doing this!
I have BlueCare/TennCare, which covers WLS once you meet their guidelines. I meet them all so far, except for the 6 mo supervised diet. But from what I understand from the policy, you need 6 months cumulative (not continuous) out of the previous 2 years. If that's the case, I have at least 4 months out of the way, maybe even all 6 if I dig back a bit.
I'm curious about others who've had BlueCare and have had the surgery covered. If you don't mind talking with me, I'd like to ru a few questions by you privately and just hear about your experience overall.
The last seminar I went to was with Dr. Sass out of Chattanooga. I really liked him, and it felt more comfortable with him, since he's actually had the surgery himself. He knows *exactly* what his patients are going through! I also think he's the only doc in the Chattanooga area that accepts BlueCare, unless that's recently changed.
I'm looking forward to being back on here and not being alone on this journey. It's painful feeling like you're the only one on this path and no one understands what you're going through.
Best wishes and it's good to be back!
