. Let me tell you, I just got through eating like 4 tiny , tiny litlle bites of some chicken with some gravy on it, and I am soooo happy. I have
really went slow about my eating, because I got sick on eggs...I have
got to get some more energy going. I'm doing okay on my protein drinks   I found this drink at GNC and it has 60 grams of protein, it is
called wheybolic extreme or something anyway it comes in 2 flavors. I
like the fruit punch. So anyway that's my update.

WHOEVER SAYS THIS IS THE EASY WAY OUT!!! SLAP THEM!!!

Is that protein drink one of the ones Pam gave us at the support group?  I have been meaning to get over there!  Now I'm going to have to!!!!

Take it slow and easy, and I'm sure you will be just fine!!!

And I'll be happy to slap those people..  I've had that thought many a time myself!!

I bought 2 cases , they have some in the cooler......so try one and see if you like it. I am open to anything that helps me with protein. I also
ordered some Champion whey stack Vanilla on line, nothing tastes as
good as Champion to me, and I blend up rasberries or strawberries or
blueberries. It's good to me. Love you

I am a HUGE fan of the GNC AMP Protein (they have it in the sample bags right now--the chocolate is so good---I don't care for the vanilla as much)....you can do three scoops and get 69gm of protein (I mix it with about 3/4 of a bottled water in a GNC shaker....it tastes just like chocolate milk to me with no aftertaste...yummy..)....but, in the beginning I would do just one scoop with about 5 oz of water & sip it...it goes down easy & one scoop will give you 93 calories & 23gm of protein....

That is so great that you were able to get the chicken down.  I STILL have problems with chicken (and eggs).....good going!!!! xo, Micheala.

Eggs were the hardest thing for me I can't stand Cold Eggs!
So because we eat so slow by the time I would get half way through my egg it was cold.
So in my case I would catch myself eating to fast then getting sick. So I put eggs on the back burner for awhile.
As for the 60g of protein drink just remember to split that drink up a little sense we don't absorb on average more the 30g at any one time. The excess protein dumps into your kidneys and liver which over time can cause other issues.

I have a question...

I had RNY bypass, and it looks like you maybe had DS.  I don't know much about the post op eating plan, but I know after RNY at 3 weeks out I was still on puree.

I noticed that you said that you were eating chicken with gravy.  It that ok?

Like I said I'm not familar with that surgery, you must not have the same post-op meal plan that us Bypass people do.

Interesting...

BTW - I like the BSN Lean Dessert protein.  I usually buy the vanilla and mix in sugar free syrup.

Just hopping in since Ronda & I both had the same surgery with Dr. Houston...  Every doctor has his/her own instructions.  I spend some time on the DS forum and was surprised to learn that some doctors advance the stages much quicker than what I was told.  Be that as it it may be, I follow what my doctor recommended.  I even bought the recommended protein drink brands.

At 8 months out, I'm getting more adventerous with protein shake brands as long as the protein and carb count falls into the guidelines.  As a DSer, I'm supposed to get 80-100 grams of protein a day.  I still am not at the point where I can get that all from food in just three meals like my program wants me to do.  If I didn't have a shake, I'd never make it.  If I was still drinking only the same two flavors of Isopure I can tolerate, I'd be noncompliant.

Bottom line:  follow your guidelines from your doctor.

Thanks for that info.  I knew that each doctor is different even with RNY, but I thought that all surgerys followed the same BASIC time line for stages.

Great info to know!

I have heard that Isopure is one of the WORSE proteins to take due to unplesent tastes.  Not many people that I've talked with like it or can tolerate it.  I understand that this is what Centenial recommends though.

In this day and age there are TONS of protein available that taste much better and have great stats.

I get most of my protein from the foods that i eat, and will do a protein shake fairly regularly, usually for breakfast.

I'm on stage 3 soft foods, but I have only been able to eat like twice and
it is tiny little pieces mushed up, and the gravy to make it moist and not
dry. Our stomachs are swollen and tight , but it does seem we do more
food. Only I'm taking mine very slow, because I don't want to hurt my
new stomach.
