how long to get approval
I know that this is different for everone and it also depends on your insurance company, etc.. but i was wondering, how long does the process take from once your stuff is submitted to the insurance company to your surgery date. I am praying that all of my stuff is in to the surgery center by the end of this week. My concern is that i am on a pretty tight schedule due to school and i want to allow myself enough time to heal before having to return to work and school. I am hoping to have the surgery before the end of the summer if everything goes as planned. Knowing that i will just be getting all my insurance requirements in this week, do u thing that is a reasonable expectation? I have just wanted this for so long and do not want to have to postpone it any longer than necessary. I am so nervous about this and think about it every day! ( i know i am such a dork, lol) Your experiences would be great to hear! Thanks!
I had to complete a 12 week program... I finished in mid August and had my surgery Oct 10th
It took awhile to get approval because insurance drug their feet, denied me when they had all my records but said they did not... I had a lot of fighting with them to do. Every single thing they said I did not have, I provided. I kept copies of ALL my medical records (over 100 pages) and documents, so that I could do the work myself and not depend on anyone else. That way I could get it to insurance DAY OF their denial instead of waiting on an office.

We submitted to the Insurance company the last week of January and I was approved on 02/01 and scheduled for my surgery on 2/24. I actually could have had surgery on 2/9 (they had an opening) but it was like 7 days away and i could not prepare everything quick enough.

Currently Looking into Plastics with Dr. Carden (in Mexico)
My information was submitted to Cigna and it took a week and a half to get an approval because Cigna said they didn't receive the information on the first submission, once they received the information it took 3 days to get the approval. I met with Dr. Dyer I think it was two weeks after that and then my surgery was 14 days after my consult with Dr. Dyer. My surgery would have been a few days later but someone had canceled their surgery so I got that date. Centennial seems to move pretty quickly.
Best of luck!
