XPost - OT - Regarding Time Off - Do you think this is right???

Since I am in Human Resources and have worked for small companies in the past I have a suggestion. Why not go to him  and ask if he is willing to work out the pay back schedule in weekly incriments. Maybe give back one day a week. That would be 4 a month. Plus you would "earn" a day back each month. If I understand the situation you would both break "even" in 2 mths. Just be honest and tell him, you have bills to pay and to work without pay completely would be detrimental to you financially. I just had my surgery Wednesday 12/10/09 and although I thought I would die that first week I was back at work on Monday morning. Im the only one to do payroll and all the bookkeeping in general so being out of work just wasn't an option. However, I was blessed to have a boss that had RYN 2 yrs ago too, so he and his wife worked with me wonderfully about keeping all my appointments. I also know they appreciated me working that full week after surgery as well. But now, it was really hard, and I think my recovery would have went much much better if I could have stayed home at least a week. 
But 'nuff  bout me - .. I think  you should just be honest with your boss and see how he reacts from there before making any decisions. Jobs are getting really hard to find here in TN
