Hospital stay

hello well surgery is july 7th can't wait. i was wondering if any one knows the approximate hospital stay for an open rny.i'm hoping to have lap rny but was wondering what the lenghth of the hospital stay is. i have appiontment on june 18th with my surgeon i just wanted to see if i could get a little heads up. thank you.

 Hi, it's good to see another Vandy patient. I had Lap RNY with Dr. Williams and I was in for 2 1/2 days, partly due to a higher than normal heart rate, which was due to the morphine withdraw. I tried to tell the floor nurse that, but they don't listen. But I'm also glad they were being cautious and not trying to kick me out the door sooner than I was comfortable with. But I've heard 1-3 days for Lap RNY and 3-5 days for Open RNY. All depending on if there are any complications and how you do with getting up and around and tolerating liquids. I'd recommend being prepared for the worst but hoping for the best.
