Well, some people just quit using it. They ask their spouse/partner if they still snore. If not, they consider themselves cured. Or they go by how they feel. If I don't use my CPAP, I feel so rotten. So if I were brave, I could try either asking my husband to stay awake (not so risky) or just quit and see how I feel. Quite frankly, my apnea was so bad when it was initially diagnosed, I'm not crazy about either method. I'm going to wait until I'm about 50 pounds from my goal weight and ask my doctor for orders for another sleep study. Sleep apnea can really put a strain on your heart. I didn't go through all this with surgery to risk that. To me it would be like taking up smoking again. I'm probably going to eat more high fat and high carb than recommended. That's all the risk I'm willing to take at this time. Fortunately, my insurance will pay for another sleep study.
I think my apnea is better, though, because the force of the air seems stronger than it has before I started losing weight.
