I am pretty sure it would be okay.  You know a lady has to look good before going into surgery!!

Goodness...color away--I can't think of a reason not to.  Barring an anesthesia issue (& I have never heard of that)....you should be fine!!  Plus, coloring makes the hair root stronger & thicker....you will want to keep doing it when/if you have any hair loss 4 months out or so.....I've been lucky so far....no more hair loss than usual (I have long hair & always find some strands in the sink when I comb it).....keep your protein up & you will be skinny with great hair in no time!!! xo, Micheala.

LOL, I got tickled at this post... sorry!  lol.  I think that's pregnancy that you can't color your hair!
It should be ok for you to color it...  bleach it, cut it, perm it...  pluck it.. shave it.. .wa**** dry it... LOL

I felt silly asking, but I thought better safe then wake up bald (no offense Scott).

I know surgery can cause hairloss down the road and I already have some from PCOS. So I didnt want to chance fate if I shouldn't.

Thanks,

Sher

I would be careful about coloring your hair if it is specifically not listed on your approved protein list. Just that one hair coloring might push you over the edge and set you up for failure.

(sorry, inside joke! I couldn't resist) ;-)

Coloring, perms, etc. can be hard on your hair, especially in the first few months after surgery when bypass and DS patients are prone to having some hair loss, you may want to avoid harsh chemical treatments on your hair. Going right before surgery should be okay.

That is something we don't talk much about UNTIL someone asks... but I remember when I was losing my hair. I was taking vitamins, supplements, doing protein, getting proper nutrients... but the body just has so much to endure and adjust to with these surgeries!

For two weeks, almost every day on my way to work, I fretted and almost cried. I didn't notice my hair coming out (as in, finding it in the drain or my brush, or on my pillow)... but my hair started looking bad... I couldn't style it good, and then I went to my hairbrush... Then I found the hair but I had not been paying attention.

You can tell when someone has had gastric by their thin hair... BUT, its not a forever thing. My hair has gotten so thick, even this year! My hairdresser said she could not believe how much my hair had grown in considering what it was at one time.
