Oh my goodness.. I went to Trader Joes for the first time today. It is like going to a grocery store built just for folks who have had weight loss surgery!

Here is what I bought:
Fresh carved turkey (thick slices!)
Fresh carved chicken
Low carb ham/cheese pizza
Crustless quiche
Spinach and Artichoke Dip
Almond Milk that only has 40 calories and very little carbs/fat
Shampoo made out of real oranges (ZERO carbs.. LOL!)

And before anyone from the board gripes at me for indulging in an occasional slice of low carb pizza or spinach/artichoke dip, anything I eat is in MODERATION, and if I stop losing weight, I backtrack and cut out anything that is slowing me down. I am losing about 3 lbs per week, which is a good pace for me. (I still need to live a normal life without feeling deprived or like I am on a 'diet')

Just wanted to share what an awesome experience  had shopping at Trader Joes. I think this will become a weekly stop for me!

Oh Garsh.  I told Tim last night, I have made protein maniacs out of Tammy and Steve!  Oh Lord.  I will not be held responsible for your addictions! lol

Oh yeah I forgot. I heard that they sell almond flour very inexpensive.  Like $3?  That's a lot better than what you can get it for online or at Kroger.

And also, Publix has Bob's Red Mill Low Carb Baking mix for $6.49 a bag.  I always order from Netrition but now i don't have to!

I am not addicted to anything, however, I do enjoy my morning cappucino/mocha protein shake. =)

I made a delicious cream cheese/black bean/garlic/rotel dip that I need someone to help me with because I only eat a spoonful or two of it a day. ;-)

Oh...I have been wanting to get to Trader Joes for a few weeks now....wish we had one in Franklin!!  But, I hear it's worth the trip to Green Hills (I think that is where it is)....I am too much of a chicken to branch out too far from the chicken/tuna/salmon/shrimp, but I do eat Boca Burgers.....

BTW...Hi Mel---it's Micheala---besides our love for getting our hands dirty & potting plants (lol!!) we have something else in common....we both have Tims, don't we?  My husband's name is Tim & I think that's your boyfriend's name, too (or is it your hubby?)--sorry---I don't remember.....

Need to get Trader Joe's on my calendar!!  Congrats on your great finds...xo, Micheala.

I have heard about Trader Joe's.....Can anyone give me "easy" directions to it from Baptist Hospital as I have my 1 year check-up with Dr. Spaw on June 11th and would love to check it out.

Thanks,  Susan O'

Baptist is next to 21st Avenue.  Use 21st.  It turns into Hillsboro Road.  Its a straight shot on 21st/Hillsboro.  About 3 1/2 to 4 miles.  You will pass Vanderbilt, then Hillsboro, and Trader Joe's is on the right side after passing a Walgreens.

I went there a while back and bout the crustless quiche and loved it.  I will have to go back and try some more from there.  I am just can't eat too many carbs... my stomach (and toliet... i know TMI) does not like me if I eat more than 30 a day.

John...  when you are part of a bariatric board, I think the potty talk is a given! lol.  I think I've about heard it all...  twice! Not much can shock me anymore.
