Hey Everyone!  I have not been on the boards for a long time, so you might already know this, but I was wondering if  Dr. Richards patients knew that he is leaving Vanderbilt?    I  am so upset!!!   He has been my surgeon for 5 yrs and I just adore him, He is very good at what he does, so of course it doesn't surprise me that he has been swooped up by another hospital!   he is going to Mobile Alabama, and if it wasn't so far away, I would still have him be my Dr.  I asked him how his family felt, and they are all excited!  So, everyone if you see him before he goes,  make sure you wish him and his family the best!  I have always seen him, so I don't really know the other surgeons, I know there is Dr. Melvin and a Dr. Williams, can anyone tell me anything about either one of them?      I know Jennifer  can do fills and I have met her and she is great, but   Dr. Richards has done a couple of surgeries on me, and I was just wanting some opinions on the other Dr's.     I wish him and his family lots of luck and I am sure many of us are going to miss him a lot!!!!

I just heard yesterday that Richards was leaving-leaving, but knew he was out of the office for the last bit.

I had Lap Band surgery with Dr. Williams on the 6th of April and I like him a lot.  He's very nice, puts up with my shenanigans, and seems very skilled as a surgeon.  I haven't had any complications aside from an allergic reaction to the surgical scrub stuff, which obviously isn't his fault!

He did my first fill about 2.5 weeks ago and it went very smoothly.  He was pleased that my other medical conditions were improving and felt I was doing just fine with my weight loss.

I know you're sad Dr. Richards is leaving, but Dr. Williams is great!  And so is the new clinic!  I can't personally comment on Dr. Melvin, but I heard last night at a support group meeting that he's very supportive of his patients and has a great bedside manner.

Sorry about Dr. Richards, but I guess Vandy's loss is Mobile's gain.

I as well had Dr. Williams and I have to say I couldn't be happier. He's great at what he does and has a pretty good bedside manner. He's great about getting me answers to questions whenever I see him and I know he's committed to helping his patients as much as he can.

The day of my surgery, they started my surgery around 7 am and at 11 pm at night he pops into my room to see how I'm doing. I told him, what are you doing here, you better get home or you are going to be in the doghouse with your wife. But he was still there checking on his patients, that is commitment to his patients success. My wife also had surgery with him and we had to go back in after her getting released, because her bowels didn't wake up after surgery, and New Years day at 5:30 am, we were talking with Dr. Williams on the phone and he said he'd meet us at the hospital, what more could we ask for. I've never been able to get ahold of a doctor like that, let alone on a holiday at that time of the morning. He's great, if you can pick who you see, I'd definitely recommend him.

Dr Willie Melvin is a wonderful man. When I was pregnant with my daughter and could not find a surgeon that would operate and remove my gallbladder he stepped up and said that he would. I was so scared and he put any fear that I had to rest. He is simply a #1 doctor.....that is if you have to use Vanderbilt.   And he even has a great comic side-------he told me that while he was in there he said hello to my daughter for me and that she looked gorgeous.  I could just keep going on and on.

I had wondered, since I haven't seen him since...  hmmmm..   March?   But since then I've been taken care of by Dr. Williams, and he is GREAT!   I haven't met Dr. Melvin, but heard good things about him too.  So, while I'll miss Dr. Richards, and I wonder what is going to happen to his nurses, but I'm very ok with Dr. Williams!

like hubby said  (Kenny,  up there)  we LOVE Dr. Williams.

When we talked to Jaime at Vandy, she said that they were going to be finding a replacement for Dr. Richards.... so there will be someone else in the mix too.

In the meantime, we love Dr. Williams.
