Hello!

I am just beginning the path to get a realize band and am going through Centennial in Nashville.  They seem to have a wonderful after care program and great staff.  I need to make me first appt with a surgeon, but where do I even start!!!??  So, for those of you who have gone through Centennial, which surgeon did you choose, why did you choose him, and what was your experience?  I'm leaning toward Dr. Dyer...any suggestions?  Thanks!!

Hello Renee and welcome to the TN board. I went through Baptist, so I can't really help you out much with Centennial, but I do know several of the staff there. They are awesome, they have several support groups options. I'm sure that you will get several replys as far as Dr. Dyer. I have heard great things about him as well as others at Centennial.

Congratulations on starting your journey, we all know that is a huge step. I wish you the best of luck in which ever direction you decide to go.

Watch the board for a couple other events that we have here. We have the Lunch Bunch that "usually" meets on the 2nd Saturday @ 1:00  and then we have the Dinner Club that "usually" meets the last Saturday of the month @ 6:00. This months Dinner Club has been changed to today @ 2:00 at Red Robin in Mt.Juliet........not to far from you..............Hint...........Hint...........We would love to have you come out and join us if you can make it.

Both of these groups meet at a different places around town and have a good meal and swap stories of what is going on in each of our worlds, sometimes we have a clothes swap in the parking lot when we are done. This is where you bring the clothes that you have shrunk out of and possibly swap them for things that someone else has brought. Both of these are open to anyone, doesn't matter which doctor, hospital, procedure, etc. Spouses, mates, family, friends, young, old, heck just bring everyone..........lol

Anyway, keep us posted on how things are going for you and just jump right in and ask anything you want.

Cheryl

Cheryl -

You have no idea how close Red Robin is to me!!!  I live in lebanon and work across the street from there.  I've have to check in with my hubby this afternoon, but may be able to work some things out to come over there.  Thanks so much for the invite!!!

Pam Davis is great to work with at Centennial...she was at Baptist when I went through a couple years ago.

I used Dr. Spaw at Baptist and can't say enough great things about him....BUT, we in Nashville are very fortunate to have many very good WLS surgeons.  I would recommend taking to several and getting a idea of your personalities because you will be working with them for a very longtime.

Pam, you look FABULOUS! It seems like just yesterday you were at your preop appointment. Are you still going to group at Baptist? There are a lot of the folks over there I would like a "status update" on as I think about a lot of you guys often. You are always welcome to come to our groups too - maybe you could come for the protein party on June 9th.

I don't go every month now but I usually peek into the Baptist group usually  at least every 3 months or so.  I'm one of the "old" guys now.

Who knows I might come visit sometime.

Hi Renee!

Welcome to the TN Boards.  I had my surgery at Centennial, and have been very pleased with the program, both pre-op and after care.  They have a staff that truly lives the dream and walks the walk!

The first step in the process is to attend a seminar (
click here for a list of upcoming seminars) from Centennial.  If you have done that, then contact either Pam Davis or Kathy Hungerford.  They can then assess where you are in the process and guide you from there!

Good luck and ask any questions you can think of.  Of course, if you know the answers to any that are asked her, jump right in!
