My First Fill

How wonderfully cool that you've already had so much success.   Sounds like you're really working it the way you're supposed to do!

 Hey Dennie!!!

I think my biggest success so far is the head stuff.  And just how light I feel emotionally.  I have been laughing for days at myself as I go through this process!  People are going to seriously think I have gone off the deep end.

Today was quite entertaining because I couldn't really eat and I found the way my brain is listening to my band fascinating.  Like I had a big mug of coffee while blogging this morning.  I needed to eat my breakfast so I could take my meds, but I couldn't.  I was FULL!  Hahahaha!  How funny was that?

I went to lunch but I just sat and hung out.  I had yogurt at 10 with my meds, and at noon I was STILL FULL!  I just knew that I didn't need to eat and if I tried to force it, bad things would happen.  When I got back from physical therapy I was actually hungry and had a protein shake.  After support group I came home and had some chicken.  And I confess, a tiny bit of ice cream (nothing left but SF popsicles now and that's the way it's gonna stay--trigger food!).  All has stayed down well and I feel good.

Going from the clean your plate club to eat for fuel club is quite the transition.  It's going well, though not perfectly (i.e., ice cream), and I am quite happy.  I know the road will have twists and turns, but all in all it's a good road and well worth traveling.

Oh, I also love the commentary on your grandson in your siggie.  He's too cute, even if he might not (but then again might be) a genius! : )

HUGS!!!

Denise,

I just absolutely love reading your posts! Congrats on your first fill! It's amazing isn't it? That we can be "adjusted". My next appt is June 2nd for another fill. I know I will need it because I only felt restriction for a couple days after my last fill. Then is was back to feeling like I didn't have a band at all! I hope we all find our sweet spots soon!

 Thanks, Laura!

I amuse myself and if even one other person is slightly entertained, I'm a happy camper!

The fill is cracking me up.  I noticed the change immediately, though it's so hard to explain. It's good to know someone understands!  I wasn't able to eat anything solid until tonight, but that was okay.  I just kept laughing at the though that a single carb master yogurt kept me full for hours!  It's almost ridiculous compared to the carb laden diet I ate before that never ever made me feel full!

One yogurt???

We'll see how I progress over the next few days.  Dr. W. said that there may be some extra swelling just from the gastric freak out of the extra band juice.  So I very well may be back without restriction soon.  Then again, on the LapBand board, some people say it may take up to 2 weeks for the fill to kick in.  Go figure.  I'll just take it day by day and see what happens.

Does your doc do the fluoroscope thing?  So you can drink barium, watch it go down and see your band?  Amy's getting her next fill with that soon, and my June fill will be that way.  I CAN'T WAIT!  Again, me with the easily entertained thing.  Insides--cool!

Here's to the sweet spot (those steins are filled with foamy saline, not beer)

Hugs!!!

Denise, I know what you mean, I remember the first time I went in and had to lay down and they inserted the needle (did not hurt) but then I had to set up and drink water with the needle still in...

Hope you get restriction soon.

 Thanks, Debbie!

Fortunately, I'm such a goof ball that I look at all this with an easily amused eye.  Attitude is important and after suffering a lifetime from chronic anxiety, I've really loosened up.  Life's too short to not laugh a lot, even if it means your LapBand needle wiggles some!

Congratulations on your long term success with your band--I hope to follow in your inspiring footsteps!  You're proof positive it can be done!

HUGS!!!
