I was just wondering ,how much money does Cen. require
you to pay before surgery? Did you need to pay the
whole "out of pocket maximum"?

Thanks...hope everyone has a great Friday?

Rhonda,
I just received an e-mail from Heather at Centennial and I was told that I will have to pay my co-pay and any expenses the surgeon requires prior to the surgery.

Hi Ronda,

Each insurance plan is different.  You need to call Heather and she can tell you what to do about this.  For me, I had to call the Woman's Hospital and talk to the Financial dept.  But I am over a year out and things may have changed.

Also, you can call your Drs. nurse and ask them what they require.  It all depends on your insurance plan.

I am excited for you.  This journey is unbelieveably rewarding.

I wondered too.  I was so excited that I wanted to know everything NOW.  LOL  This is the hurry and wait time.  Hard but I promise it DOES pass.

Good luck.  And keep us up to date.

I had to pay a $250 deposit to Dr. Houston.  After my insurance paid his bill, I had the choice of getting it back or leaving it on the books for my follow-up co-pays.  The first visit when my drain was removed didn't count because of being so close to the surgery date.  My flexible spending account wouldn't reimburse me for a "deposit".  What happens now is Holly submits my visit to my insurance.  They pay everything but my co-pay. Then I submit my EOB to my flexible spending to get a portion of my deposit back.  It sounds more complicated than it is.

Centennial wanted the 20% portion that my insurance didn't pay when I came into to register.  That was about $2,500.  Happily, I didn't have to pay that because I have secondary insurance and the business office at the hospital confirmed it.

Believe me, everyone is very up front about the money.  You will have a good idea about how much you'll need to pay.
